Yes Jake answers his questions emails. I am enjoying all the base plates and getting use to the longer handle. As all have experienced this first razor is exceptionally smooth. Also the tabs are covered in a way that one can easily load/unload blades securely without risking a cut finger. If you haven’t checked out his leather travel case it’s a solid and secure protection for your 3-piece razor - it’s another fantastic product !

Yep, saw the leather travel case yesterday. Not traveling much and living in humid climes, so don't want to put it to the side and risk mold, but it very nice!

Early pictures seemed to indicate that this razor doesn't clamp the blade close to the edges. I go ATG, so this is something I pay attention for. Not sure if this has changed, but I am hoping that future base plates can address this. The top cap of this razor is just amazing. Love the stonewash. Love the logo. Love the finishing on the underside of the base plate. Love that the posts go through the base plate -- easier to dry for those of us more concerned about rust and corrosion. Love the ... don't know what it is called, but the printing of the plate version and number on the bottom of the base plate.

Just the limited blade clamp is my only concern, but it is a big one for me; if that were addressed, I would be in line to purchase one. Really, this a fantastic looking razor.

(Oh, also, not a fan of the very thin handle, but I keep reading that a new handle design is coming out, so I am optimistic.)

EDIT: If the handle design is still ongoing, if I can make a suggestion, just making the handle a more standard thickness and doing away is the tapered part in the final few millimeters of the handle, and that would be good. The simple ring patterns are quite nice and match the style of the razor. Conversely, I think the H&S and Colonial handles, new and old, are hideous.

I experience No blade chatter with this design. The blade has strong support.  With the new top cap you can pit any handle you want on it. I have a Charcoal Goods Prism handle on mine.

Absolutely agreed. I also find that the blade is clamped securely and very well supported.

If I had to make a comparison to how this razor shaves, I’d say the aggressive plate feels pretty similar to my Paradigm 17-4.

It’s a pretty efficient and super smooth daily driver. Really looking forward to trying the even more aggressive plate when it becomes available.

I don’t have a Ikon handle to try it. The Charcoal Good’s handles all fit and so does the RR lupo handle
