"I think we have to be happy that Yates is doing anything at all."Jake Yates has scaled back production and gone back to a full-time job, hence the long waits on orders. So, I think the chances are slim he will be thinking about offering alternative finishes.
Well I get that as being self employed with wife, and kids is a tough life. Nice having pay check each week, not having to sweat orders, praying raw material will be delivered on time, and all the pride of ownership nonsense. That pride of ownership is really being slave to your business.
Thank for reply about Jake’s life change.
He had for sale some of his CNC machines on one of his posts.
As far as a polished finish, he did a few electropolished way back when. As machined gets a step to debur the razor, it is his best functional finish. Keep in mind, he doesn’t view razors as jewelry, he views them as functional tools.
I do not care for bead blasted or stonewashed, they feel less smooth to me. As machined is the winner for a low coefficient of drag.

Well do know the Razor Emporium Guy Little Matt (6’8” Guy), bought one CNC from Yates, he plan to build Razor from scratch.
As far as your observation about finishes, I still like Shiny Stuff, but I also get Jakes thought process, a Razor is a Tool First.
Function is. more important than Shiny. We use to laugh at people who chromed up the Harley's or Cars. But the chromes did not to enhance performance.
