My first shave with the HYB plate really exceeded my expectations. To be fair, this was my first open comb experience, but it was easily the best first pass I’ve ever had after multiple day growth. So smooth! I don’t know what level the SB side of this is, but it’s mild and worked great for my second pass.[Image: lr2uzmE.jpg]

The Hybrid is basically a brass M plate with dual combs Happy2

[Image: IJT1L7q.jpg]For the second shave I was planning on using the EH, so I skipped yesterday to let my hair grow a bit. I did half of my first pass with the EH and was surprised that it didn’t seem to cut as easily as the open comb did on four days growth. I switched over to the H plate and found it almost exactly the same.

For my second pass, I did half and half again on each side of my face with the H and EH. They are very similar. Both efficient and smooth. The efficiency felt almost identical, with the EH having just a bit more blade feel. I probably wouldn’t buy both since they feel too similar. I think I’ll do one more comparison with the HYB and H on each half of my face. Probably on Saturday morning and mail out the razor to jmudrick that day.

So far the HYB plate is calling my name.

Had one last shave with the Yates on Saturday morning. Meant to mail it off to jmudrick on Saturday, but didn't have time. It's all packed up and getting sent out today.

I did half of my face with the HYB and half with the H. I really like both, but I think the HYB is the winner for me. For my preference of shaving every 3-4 days, the easy first pass with the open comb, followed by the smoothness of the M level SB, it's just perfect.

Thanks for letting me join this pass around. I really enjoyed getting the chance to try all of the options!

Yates 921 M/H, BIC (1) Proraso, Tom's B400.

First use M on the beard was mild but effective, no issues finding proper angle/pressure despite limited feedback. Switching to H plate for head shave second pass was more my speed, more blade feel but still an easy comfortable shave. [Image: 5611ae327dd512af01ecd1d9f7249abc.jpg]

H/EH plates. The EH is my preferred thus far, (hybrid tomorrow), but I'm really not a fan of the handle or finish. Stubby handle would suit me but not sure I could get used to the feel of the steel finish.[Image: e0a8c625ce42167a0a4d986bc4a851dc.jpg]

Hybrid plate. This would be a buy for me if the brass plate was in stock. And why not a brass top cap? Fresh Polsilver blade and almost exclusively using the OC side I got a great shave. No pickups necessary. [Image: ff8f3274a2fcd80991a80d39f5c0c885.jpg]

A couple of one on ones before I pass on the Yates, this morning vs the PAA Ascension DOC. The Ascension also puts a great amount of bend on the blade, though the blade is tightly clamped rather than suspended as in the Yates. As expected the Yates OC was the more comfortable shave, the PAA at 1/8 turn may have had a little edge in efficiency (noticed only in the moustache area) but closer race than I expected. Yates Hybrid vs. Fine Marvel/Polsilver (2). The underrated Marvel is another blade bender like the Yates. I prefer the additional feedback I get from the Yates but the Marvel is smooth and fairly close in efficiency though I'd give the Yates the edge.

Last shave with the Yates it's off to Andrew. I've enjoyed the razor, particularly the hybrid plate. I don't care for the handle at all, nor am I a fan of mixed metal heads, so I wouldn't purchase the set, but I might pick up the hybrid plate if available.[Image: d37ce5c832a51d54b3b034a70dbf0999.jpg]

hi all, the yates pass around razor was received from jmudrick last night. I'll use it for my next shave in the next day or two.
