After swearing that I'd never again purchase a razor without a matching stand, I bought a Yates 921 (polished) that has no inkwell stand.

Obsessive?  Compulsive? Meticulous? Finicky?  Yes!

After putting a caliper to the bottom of the (too thin) handle, I am unable to locate a stand that, by measurement, will hold the handle without wobble.  The handle is 12.1 mm.

Am I alone in this insane quest?

IF you are truly serious about getting a REAL ink-well stand ... Above the Tie makes one of the BEST. I have FIVE of them for my smaller diameter handles.
I like the brushed matte stainless finish, but there is also Polished and Satin Matte.
At Above the Tie our goal is provide the best shaving gear possible. As proof, check out our new Ink Well Razor Stands machined here in the USA from a single block of 303 stainless steel.
Superior weight, no coatings to wear off, no paint to chip, just one masterful piece of functional art. Our Ink Well razor stand weighs an impressive 7.6 oz or 215g and is 1 5/8" tall and 1 9/16" wide at the base. The aperture has a diameter of just over 1/2" The classic matte finish looks great now, and it will look just as great in years to come.

Just Here for the Shaves

There's a post somewhere here where someone had a custom-made stand for a couple razors. If I come across it I'll post it in this thread or you may do a search and find it and be able to have one made for your Yates.

These were custom machined by Scott from Marley Machine Works. They look great, and now these razors can sit at the center of my collection.

OP here.

Just now finished communicating with Jake Yates. Yes indeed, he does plan to "soon" release inkwell razor stands for his 911 razor.

My search ends (except for the waiting period).

Thanks to all of you who responded above. I appreciate your help!

TheBurgh I found that the end knob of my skinny 4 inch Yates 921 handle fits in my Blackland Sabre inkwell handle. You can get it in a polished finish as well. The one pictured is the machined finish.

The handle on the left is my Yates 4 inch handle just to make sure we are talking about the same handle.

Most of the time, I use my Razorock Haloed UFO handle with my Yates 921 and that handle fits well in my Rockwell inkwell stand.

How well does thr top tip of the handle fit into the groove on the bottom of the 921 baseplate? No washers?

Love your combo of pieces? A trifecta!

Thanks! If the light hits the blade correctly, it is a nice alternating satin and polished combination from top cap to stand.

The Razorock Haloed UFO handle fits perfectly into the slot of the Yates 921 base plate with no washers needed.
I use one washer just to make sure there are no marks on my base plate but I have used that handle without any washers and it works fine.

The Rockwell stands come in different finishes and I wonder if the white chrome would match the polished finish of the Yates 921 or the Haloed UFO handle. When I bought my Rockwell 6S years ago, there may have been two finishes and I bought the stand that matched my 6S. It was a satin finish at the time.

The regular Razorock UFO handle, Razorock HD (from what I read), Razorock barber pole and the Stando King handles (and probably most of the Stando handles from what I have read) will work with the Yates 921 without washers. I have read that the Charcoal Goods handles and the Blackland Blackbird handles work without washers as well.

I have the washers too, so I have tried most of my handles with the Yates 921 and settled in on the Razorock Haloed UFO handle as it feels nice in my hands and I can let the end of the handle rest on my pinky finger so I do not add extra pressure and let the weight of the head do the shave.
