There are a couple videos on YouTube on this creation from Yaqi named the Avanti. I won't go into the pros & cons of them nor how it was presented. However, I've always been intrigued by the potential benefit of one being produced in Stainless Steel by Merkur. That has never happened until now with Yaqi creating a replica of the much talked about Progress on its benefits and also its achilles heel of sub par metal (Zamak) and the corrosion that inevitably it will encounter through repeated use over time.

Have one on order just to see how it performs and if there truly is an added benefit to its performance other than knowing in this alloy it will & should most certainly last a few lifetimes.

Stay tuned....

I also ordered this Yaqi model. He is also producing a replica of the Homelike Elbrus.
One aspect I really like is that they've made the blade holder sections or constraint wider.
However, I'm a bit disappointed about some missing details; the original had scalloped bars which added to its aesthetic.
Also, the handle hasn’t been improved. Merkur handle is very slippery.

It is also very surprising that I bought US-made Oliblade razor at a lower price than Chinese Yaqi.

After you posted this, I thought I would receive my razor, soon. Then, I found this in my mailbox today.
The shipping from China was fast. Mine just cleared customs yesterday. I think you will receive yours before the weekend.

Niiiicce!! That was quick. You give me hope. Although, I will admit that I’m on the East Coast (Jersey). One never knows with the vaunted delivery service of the USPS. As they say, hope for the best, expect the worst.

Look forward to reading your thoughts on the Yaqi Avanti…  Party

The razor's machining and mirror finish are pretty good. No blade misalignment detected. The spring or connection feels quite stiff, that is good. The only issue I noticed was that the dial point is slightly off-center. Although the handle feels somewhat slippery, I experienced no issues with slipping during my shave. Using setting #3 for the first shave, I found it has a positive blade exposure, a very efficient shave without any irritation or cuts. Overall, my initial review is very positive.

Slightly off-center dial point:

Thanks for the post. Was that with or without a blade inserted? And does it still have that smooth or glide like feel from the original Progress? Close, not close?
Thanks in advance amigo.

Also, I just received notice that mine is out for delivery today. You were spot on with estimated delivery before the weekend.  Happy2
