I don't have many adjustables (and I've given away most of them), as I always set them on the highest setting and never adjust. Why pay for the engineering and execution if I don't use them? The only two I still have are the Rex and the Mergress, having given away my Slim, Parker Variant and a few others. I continue to enjoy my Rex at 6.5, but have not used a Toggle. For some reason I don't get (and am disappointed by), none of my vintage Gillettes work for me. Oh, well.

Hello my friend

I was told this is the latest version of the REX but I’m not sure on the model number and Mark who sent it to me is out of the country and out of touch for a bit but I’ll have to ask him when he gets back.

There are some vintage razors I’ve shaved with that will stay right with a lot of modern razors in different ways. Could be efficiency,  smoothness and maneuverability for example. The Toggle is one of them. Smooth and set on max a very effective razor at taking down growth. I’m not sure it’s gotten the attention it should for it’s shaving capabilities but more so for it’s collectibility. The difference in these razors as can be seen in the scores was not really efficiency as they were pretty much neck and neck in that area in 2 passes with no touch ups. Who knows maybe a 3rd pass might have changed things. I know now that many hrs after this Shave Off the regrowth I’m feeling in all areas is the same as I described in the report. So basically as far as beard reduction goes they were the both the same on this shave. That’s why I always say a person should take from the scores what a person wants or may be looking for in a razor. So if someone was looking for both smoothness & efficiency in a vintage razor the Toggle would be a good choice. In fact the Toggle and the Gibbs are my 2 favorite vintage Adjustable razors with the Gibbs being a step up in efficiency by a bit from the Toggle and still a smooth shaver. There are some modern Adjustable razors that either have been released like the Taiga which I’ve shaved with and from what I hear the Rocnel Sailor along with the soon to be released Janus razor that have or will take the efficiency level a few steps up from any vintage Adjustable. Now will they have the character of the F4 Toggle remains to be seen or should I say seen & felt! Lol

When the Shave Off is past the “ Efficient category “ or if the Toggle gets eliminated before the category ends I’d be glad to let you try it out.

Thanks for the input.

Great shaves!

That was another good Shave Off, Frank. Smoothness is not to be ignored and i really appreciate smooth.
You know, your efficient vs aggressive clarification really brought that to simple and sensible terms I can use from here on out.

Thanks my friend and I had to get that out as I was being asked what those two words meant to me along with the term effective or effectively.  I’m glad it helped you out as well.

UPDATE: Next 2 razors picked for Shave Off

Timeless Ti .95 DC vs Gamechanger Jaws

So picked these two names out of the box and this may turn out to be a good one. I"ve very familiar with the Timeless and I've Shaved with the Gamechanger with different plates on it since it's release but never the Jaws baseplate so this should be a fun one. I'll do the Shave Off for tomorrow morning's work shave and I'll report back when I get home from work.

As always I'm looking for predictions on which one will take this Shave Off.

Thanks all

Timeless .95 TI DC and Gamechanger Jaws. That does sound like a good matchup, and I've never used the Jaws either, I believe I remember the Timeless doing pretty well against others.

Which side of the Timeless will you be using, SB or OC?
This will be a good one, looking forward to it! The Timeless almost won the other shave off championship, so it will be my favourite.
Plus I purchased one a few months ago, and I love the shaves it gives! Smile

Since the Jaws is a wide gapped (ie less teeth) 84 Open Comb I assume you will only be using the OC of the Timeless to make it a fair shave off. If so the Timeless 95 should easily be smoother (because of its intrinsic nature and it’s titanium rather than stainless) and slightly more efficient as the Jaws is part of the GC 84 family.

Either way Frank your face should enjoy the shaves.

To make things fair since the GC Jaws is an OC I’ll use the OC side of the Ti Timeless.

I detect a slight bias  Big Grin  You should have to do the test blindfolded!
