Received my 1.15 gap last week and am in the process of reviewing versus the 1.05. I’ll have a lot of info coming but in a nutshell there is certainly more blade feel, but I am not all that certain it is accompanied by a matched increase in efficiency. Thank you. Stunning razors. I'm Canadian and can't get my hands on one. Great information though.

a bit confused as to which one to get. I thought most were leaning towards the 1.15 as the optimal gap for daily shaving. guess ymmv...

I had had to pick just one gap for daily shaving, it would probably be 1.15. That's just me though.

It really all depends on how much aggression you like. I know guys that use the 1.25 and I know guys that sold the 1.05 cause it’s too aggressive.

What other razors do you like?

My first post here and I thought I'd jump right in.

A few months ago, I set aside my vintage Gillettes to focus on some modern razors.

The ones that stand out for me are Charcoal Lvl 2 (nice but not spectacular) and Blackbird...the latter provides some next level results on my face...
altho I wouldn't call it the ultimate in smoothness and comfort. I even have a Timeless 95 which I don't reach for that
often....Im not sure why...it shaves pretty good so I think Im just subconsciously not a fan of its heft (will probably sell).

The one thing I don't want to do is get another razor that replicates any of the others I already have (even if it does the job smoother, better).

Im looking to get a Wolfie that might bring a new capability to my present line up.

Something that might come close to a Charcoal Lvl 3 or Ikon Tech, perhaps...but a lot smoother.

Have been thinking of a fantasy configuration myself.

So far have landed on 2 possible choices: WR1 0.86 SB and WR2 1.15 SB. Heard that the WR1 can also be requested in 0.94
and some rave about it....0.86 close to CG Lvl3....0.94 closer to Ikon Tech....but both way smoother. That sounds attractive.
But with such scarce razors its important to get it right first time, or get caught up in the act of selling, trading, re-ordering etc.

So far not really sure what the Wolfman OC side (if getting a DC) does other than provide the sense of 2 razors in one and maybe a marginal increase in aggression. And I hate it when an open comb side tugs.

I go with DCs to get two different blade gaps. The same is probably possible with either a SB or OC base plate, but it would be hard to tell the sides apart during a shave (even with the base plate engraved). So far, the DC has worked out perfectly for me. I use the more aggressive, OC side for my first pass (WTG). Then I use the milder, SB side for any subsequent passes (XTG and/or ATG) and touchup. It has really helped cut down on irritation and with the 1.25/1.15 I have been able to get a better two-pass shave than I ever have before.

I don't think I would want to use anything more aggressive than a 1.15 for more than one pass. But the 1.25 is terrific for the first pass and sets me up nicely for the next pass with the 1.15 SB.

It requires more frequent rinsing, but I don't mind. I don't really like flipping the razor around all the time and prefer to use one side per pass. Plus, if I really want to go easy on myself, I have the option of only using the mild side. I don't know why dual gaps aren't more popular. It's a great option to have and makes for a truly custom razor.

I only shave twice a week so my first pass is always on 3 or 4 days growth. The hairs are long enough at that point to get pinned down and pulled back by the safety bar and that isn’t comfortable. Most of my razors are OC because they allow the hairs to pass and make it unobstructed to the blade with the bonus of letting some additional lather do the same. After the first pass if I still craving blade feel I can stick with the OC or use the SB. Recently with the introduction of my first DC into the den I’ve been using the SB for the second pass and touch ups and I find it smoother. Wolfman OCs have smoother and more rounded off teeth and are quite comfortable compared to other OCs I’ve had.

I have the WR2 1.25 DC and I use the OC side on the first pass WTG and then on my second pass I use the SB side ATG and then a half pass AXG on my cheeks with the SB side. That gives me an extremely close BBS. I love the combination of the DC and I own 5 different manufacturers DC razors but the WR2 is the best with the Charcoal L3 DC coming in a close second and the Timeless .95 DC coming in 3rd. I use a Feather blade with the WR2, a PolSilver with the Charcoal Goods and a Voskhod with the Timeless. All great shaves but the best is with the WR2.
