Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

Still guys don't loose hopes, I think it was just they were testing the new changes that they made and now there will be a proper drop soon. I was just lucky, I just kept on pressing F5 during that period it came up.

Just put together a 'fully loaded' option and the price went up to CAD $1,105...250 base price for head and 855 for all the extras.
I guess one has to be philosophical about it because when he started out, these things used to be something like $175US, with
far fewer gap options.

It takes far more time and effort to complete a mirror finish than a brushed design so it appears he has decided to be compensated for
his time more adequately....which I don't think anyone can refute.

Second, he has probably been watching newcomers asking 600USD for untried razors, so that also plays a part.

Im a little puzzled to read that there was a drop, since no one has actually posted what they ordered. It used to be time consuming
to fill out the options previously....now it would probably take even longer, at least the first time you see those options. I
am sure if I saw them for the first time, they would make me stop to think. And waste some time...which is the biggest
mistake you can make in a wolfman drop.

With these changes, I can see a lot of guys going. for just the head...and many dropping out altogether.
He probably wouldn't mind more of the latter.

But Im going to take a mad guess and predict that it will create an even bigger frenzy.

I was checking out and poof ....sold out!! I was like WTF couldn’t have been open for more than 30 seconds.

I don't think you can do anything in 30 seconds...previous drops have felt more like 90-120 seconds...

Is it possible that he was just testing all the options and hence the site appeared open without accepting orders?

I was lucky enough to grab a WR2 SB 1.15 with WRH2 and basic polish finish for 400 CAD.

My last order was from February of 2018 so I was due. However, the only way I had the opportunity was from this little “group”. Thank you to all for sharing shipment and receive information as it helps immensely.

I also believe with the added expenses that James is trying to get his share. I know he detests seeing his razors being sold for more on the second hand market. Also, without having to mirror polish everything, he can get razors out quicker to people who may not require it. I plan to assess how much I like the basic polish and then go further on my own.

If James actually detests the open market prices his razors sell for he can go look in the mirror and see who’s at fault for that.

I ordered a WR2 DC in 1.5 SB and 1.15 OC, with WRH2 handle and a WRA1 base. The head is only in mirror polish rest are all in polish/textured finish. What do you guys think?

My idea is to keep 1.5 SB side as daily driver and 1.15 for 2-4 days beard, or do first WTG with 1.15 and then XTG 1.05, as I only do two passes. I think I can still mail him by this weekend and change the order, but to get the correct head option is always confusing. Let me know your thoughts...

Im glad I didn't wait 3 months to email him my order, as Im sure I would have copped the new prices...
who says haste makes waste....hehe

Moving forward, Im going to be a lot more circumspect in any wolfman purchases.
Glad I got both of mines before it all blew up.

Hopefully, pictures of the various finishes will filter through, so customers can decide
what do do....never thought Id see the day for a wolfman razor with machining marks,
but there you have it.

Those marks add "character".

From what I understand the brushed razors are pretty bright polished, then he brushes. Brushed may take less time but not by much, I don't think.

And I agree...I'm glad I got mine when I did. I've always contended he severely undervalues his time and talent. Perhaps now he is getting closer to justification....but im pretty sure I've ordered my last one. The price increase will certainly decrease the demand...which is one way to control it when there is no way to increase supply.

Now, it's more important than ever to make damned sure you buy the correct gap.
