Per a conversation with James:

“...planning to make an open comb and dual comb WR2. The initial blade gap is .97mm...be offering different gaps soon. The BBS-1 had a 1.0mm blade gap.

- The outside cap radius was changed to a smaller radius, matching the WR1 cap.
- The inside of the cap is completely different.
- Overall head length is longer, matching the WR1
- The thickness of the base plate center portion increased by .5mm
- The thickness of the solid bar guard increased significantly
- Solid bar slots are now angled
- Handle recess added
- Engraving changed to match WR1
- Weight of the head is 34g (about 7g increase)
- Bevels added to soften edges, helpful for sanding by hand
- Blade bevels on base plate widened
- Bar guard "combs" do not extend to the edges

Blade geometry was not changed significantly from previous design. “

Dan! You’re nikos’s hero! Nice info. I will be on the lookout for a larger gap version in the future.

Guys this was James’ response to a customer. Properly thank him for the detailed response.

But it does comport with reports of being slightly milder than BBS1. My perspective is the sum of these changes equate to somewhere between a half and whole gap step based on WR1 deltas.

This post just made my day. Can't wait to hear what options James is going to offer for the WR2

Thank You DanLaw for the excellent information. I’m happy to hear that other than aesthetics, the WR2 sounds like it’s going to be a very similar shaver to the BBS-1. The BBS-1 for me personally is an excellent shaver that is both smooth and efficient, but a Razor that I could also use daily without irritation. It’s interesting to me that when the BBS-1 was originally being produced it was billed as an Efficient/Aggressive Razor. From what I’ve read recently most people that have used it consider the BBS-1 to be mild. I’m hoping that the WR2 shaves very similarly to the BBS-1, and I don’t think that I’ll personally be able to tell a difference in the .03mm Blade Gap all other things being equal. I will know soon enough, I received my shipping notice today from Wolfman. It will be exciting to see the other offerings James has planned for the WR2.

Funny. Keep the irony to yourself instead of using another member's name that you don't even know. That doesn't change the fact that you were too afraid to ask James yourself, thinking you would not be able to buy another of his razors. Not Nikos' hero, be a grown man and get over it after all these days, just a person that is not afraid of James and wants to provide info.

Didn’t pursue this to create friction between users but rather to clarify some questions for custom builds by James.  It was only shared publicly after others had raised some questions regarding a few of the areas we had discussed and James agreed with posting to the forum.  Hopefully we all can get back to discussing the razor and let bygones be gone

I’m sorry if I offended. Was simply making a joke.

On an unrelated topic, I don’t know where James gets this reputation as being this ban-happy beast? He would never ban someone for asking questions. I think the only reason he’s ever “banned” someone is for flipping new razors repeatedly.

Anyways, in all sincerity thanks to dan for providing that info. A few of the new razors are out for delivery today so new opinions, which this thread greatly needs, are coming soon!

No razor for you!

The first thing that came to my mind when I ready this was the soup nazi on Seinfeld. I only have one Wolfman, but my experience with James was the he could not have been more responsive or accommodating.
