I paid up on Tuesday.  I also requested info for  titanium, brass or bronze options as they become available. Hopefully the backlog becomes manageable enough in the near future for James to entertain these requests.

And I am just a day behind!  Just got the shipping notification.

I just picked up this wrh2 hollow in basic matte brushed and I love it.   First, I like the weight which is similar to Titanium.  Second, I think the basic brush enhances the grip.  Some time ago I owned a wrh2 satin and I always found it slightly less grippy than I prefer, although it never slipped out of my hand or anything.   This however is an improvement in my opinion.

Today I used a WR2 for the first time.  WR2s are mostly known as mild razors.  This one however was not.
With a 1.65 mm blade gap, this was a very aggressive razor.  And paired with a new Feather blade, it took the utmost care to avoid flaying myself.  But with care and attention, I managed to get a nearly BBS shave, in just one pass with the grain.  I also liked the fit of the Darwin handle.
What did I learn?  1) That the WR2 is probably a superior design to the WR1.  2) I like the Darwin handle.  3) If I ever buy one, it will have a blade gap of 1.25 to 1.35 mm.  4) And the reason I don't own one is $.

Not that it's that big a deal, but if you were to shave your moustache I think you might find the thinner cap of the WR1 lends itself to shaving under the schnozz a but easier. I can do fine with either one, but I do like the nimbleness of the WR1 quite a bit. Not saying it is better, just different.

Why do you think the wr2 is a superior design to the wr1 draebeard ? I like both but probably prefer the wr1.

I also prefer the WR1 in most cases, I find it more responsive and it's an absolute pleasure to use with how nimble the head is. The WR2 is smoother with higher blade gaps, but I also find it deceiving and can leave me with pretty raw skin because I'm not feeling enough when shaving, sort of a double edged sword, pardon the pun.

I have used both the WR1 and WR2 extensively and can’t say I prefer one to the other.

I like both, but I prefer the WR1. I like the nimbleness and the blade forward design of the WR1.
