Going milder with the blade yesterday was the wrong move. The shave itself was much smoother, but not so great in the long run (the opposite results I was getting with the Polsilver).

At the advice of Dragonsbeard, I palm stropped a Feather and gave that a try. I also tried riding the cap, which I don't do with my SS WR2 DC. It worked! The shave was comfortable and post shave is great. Thanks goodness! I was getting a little worried about this one. Feathers on their second use have always been rough for me. I palm stropped it again. We'll see if I can repeat the results tomorrow.

I love wizamet in all my razors. Smoother than Pols imo. Especially with the first shave.

Ok, last review of the Ti, as I'm sure you're getting sick of hearing about it. The Feather blade made me shave very cautiously. Much more cautiously than I do with a DE. I approached it more like I was using one of my Feather AC razors and I got a couple great shaves. I wanted to see if the issue was blades or technique, so I went back to the Polsilver today. I approached it just as I did with the Feathers...slow, careful, and very focused on angles. Also, I made my lather wetter the past couple of days, like I do when using the AC razors. The shave went really well...much better face feel than the first few shaves with a Polsilver.

So here are the conclusions I feel like I can draw after using this razor daily for over a week...It's not as mindlessly smooth as my polished WR2 SS. It can be smooth enough, but it takes work (for me, at least). If I was in a hurry, I would probably choose the SS WR2. I get slightly better shaves with the Ti though.

So, if James makes more, I'd say err on the side of a conservative blade gap unless you don't mind spending a little more time getting it dialed in.

Yesterday I took delivery of my Ti WR2-SB 1.35mm gap.  It will not be the only 135, but it is certainly the first to come from DuFour's hands. Again, I am truly a lucky man.

I put the 135SB to 6 days growth yesterday.  The first 135SB pass had face feel of a 125OC with a little more blade feel.  The second pass was typical WR2.  The blade is there but it fades to the background and the smoothness bear enters the butter aisle.  In fact, I easily lost the blade, almost on command.

When I ordered it, I believed the end product would be a WR1-1.0mm gap in efficiency with WR2 smoothness...and that's pretty much how it behaved.  I was taken aback at the smoothness tho.  It was surprising.  It may be smoother than SS, it's close.

There were a couple of new variables with this shave, first Ti razor in hand, first hand stropped Feather, so I won't make many definitive statements until I can get all of my razors back in the den to do some side by side comparisons. The first run was very, very nice.

I wanted THE Alpha Wolf to dominate the pack, and all other contenders.  A Wolf that could climb in the ring with the iKon Techs and 2011 R41's of the world and best them all in efficiency and do it comfortably.  I'm pretty sure I have exactly that.  Time will tell.

Here is the Ti135SB with it's SS115SB cousin.

Wow, a 1.35 gap huh! I thought that I would go down in gap from my stainless steel because the titanium seems to be more aggressive from what others are saying but from what you are saying, it’s still smooth at a higher gap and in titanium. Very interesting indeed my friend!! Great write up!

A good friend has several razor in SS and Ti variations. In most cases the Ti version is slightly less efficient.

I have the 125DC in SS. I think a 135OC in SS would be unusable but the 135SB would be maxed out in SS.

Add those two variables and I was OK with Ti slight loss in efficiency with a softer face feel.

That reasoning seems to have held true. Only one shave in tho.

YMMV of course.

Have you used Paradigm Ti-II? It sounds like that little to zero blade feel - but efficient.

Not efficient at all. Sold it straight away

You have to try the paradigm Ti 1 the original that has a lot more efficiency

Loving the thread guys. Detailed reviews and of course awesome pictures. My first WR2 has arrived and is loaded up for tomorrow. SS 1.05 DC. I have to honestly say that since I have acquired my first Wolfman years ago...each and every one has been impeccable and the sense of satisfaction I get when shaving with them has never dissipated after all these years. These are pieces that I love to use and own. And the fact that I’m just as excited to use them today as I’ve ever been really says something.

Does anyone have an educated guess as to when the store will be open again? I lost track of everyone's shipping days and want to grab a 1.15. Love the 1.05 but would like a touch more efficiency.
