No chatter on any of the above. Assuming the top cap locks down tight to the base plate I can only suppose the problem lies in the angle of attack.

Try increasing your angle. IMHO.

To piggyback off Jimmy's comment here, the WR2 works better with a steeper angle.

When shaving the face the bottom of the handle should be perpendicular to the floor.

In other words instead of riding the cap when shaving, you need to ride the safety bars.

LORENZO44 what problems are you experiencing as a result of what you assume to be blade chatter?

I too owned a WR2 1.25 but found other styles of razors to work better for me. Thinking of razor styles as Clamping or Dampening has worked for me.

Clampers usually don’t have much give which because of my personal situation leaves me raw or irritated.

Dampening style (or ones with actual “blade chatter”) razors leave my skin feeling much better because there’s some “give” to the blade. Blackbird, Yates, Henson, Rocnel Sailor, Paradigm have all been keepers. Wolfman and Karve (rigid clampers) have not.

Ok interesting I thought there would be more blade chatter at the higher gaps, I have very coarse hair so I only really use feather blades

The problem is that the blade doesn't seem to be as well support as with my other Razors so it feels like the blade can move abit more this results in the razor not feeling as smooth

Very, very interesting AQU as I have recently made the same discovery. Chased the clampers and dismissed all others until I tried the Yates and Pearl flexi.

Can you explain what you mean by chatter? The WR2 is clamped pretty close to the blade edge across the whole length of the blade. Its hard to imagine a more rigid design without going to SEs. Maybe you are experience skipping because your angle is wrong? Maybe the harshness you are feeling is the Feather blade? If its skipping, you can try holding the razor as close to the head as you can so it can't bounce around when going over your skin.

ETA - while I don't have a WR1, just looking at its design and those similar, its optimal angle looks considerably more shallow than the WR2.

Tony, I have a similar experience as you. My favorite razors are less rigid and give me the smoothest shave. BB Ti, RS 10, Diamondback and Charcoal goods. I sold all my WR2 razors and my Karves as they just weren't as smooth.

Same with me. Seems like the super well clamped razors always tear up my face. BB, CG, and Yates give me close comfortable shaves. I have yet to try a paradigm razor, so hopefully one day. With that said, I get great shaves with my 1.45 WR2. Its got some blade feel, but the end result is close and irritation free. It just requires a steep angle and light touch.

Are you sure the top plate and baseplate are locking down tightly? Reason I say that is I recently got a WR1 .61 SS I ordered from Wolfman and it would not lock down tight without a washer in it. It was strange as it came with a washer and it’s the first one I’ve ever gotten that had that came with a washer and the first that had that problem. I returned the razor as I had the exact same razor years ago so I know how it should be and this one was just not right. I will say I’ve had 10 Wolfman razors over the years and never had blade chatter.

The whole blade chatter thing is a mystery to me. I love razors on both sides of the line drawn by others. I've never felt anything I would describe as chatter, from any razor. Am I immune? It sounds like my natural steep angle on ALL razors provides a barrier? I dunno.

I've always thought "ride the cap" was the worst piece of advice I have ever read.

The safety bar is there for a reason...I use it for it's designed purpose (not an invitation to argue merits of either technique). I just know what works for me.
