Good stuff, Gavo.

Too new to know, are the alignment slots unique to Wolfman? They seem to bring another level of goodness to the razor.

Hi Beamon,

The Blackbird Razors that is coming out later this year also has those slots as well.  But I think the Wolfman Razor's are the only DE Razor in the market right now that utilize those slots.

The whole razor is CNC Machined, so that probably contributes to the razor alignment goodness of Wolfman Razors.

I believe the Blackbird razor uses the slots on the base plate instead of the top cap. I may be wrong about that though. Maybe I'm thinking about the posts on the RR Mamba.

EDIT: I just looked and I was wrong. The slot posts are on the top cap just like the Wolfman.

The razor head itself is sleek and sexy and performed awesome.  I too purchased the WRH2 handle (in July).

I love the slots that make blade alignment always 100% perfect.

I am on the current wait list and James mentioned in his last email that I would be in October- very much look forward to trying as I have never shaved with a Wolfman and am eager to see first hand.

Gavo, did you stick with the standard blade gap of .61mm or did you bump it up to the popular .74mm? I know many, including James himself, prefer the .74mm but I am on the fence.

Thanks!

Kwsher, I probably have the .61mm (standard blade gap) as I did not request James to make any adjustments to make the shave milder or more aggressive.

Based on the first shave alone, I can compare the aggressiveness to be just a hair above the Weber. Its in the right spot for me in my opinion, not too mild not too aggresive-just right.

Kevin, I have used both and greatly prefer the .74mm blade gap. I have very sensitive skin and my lower neck is easily irritated. The more aggressive blade gap has actually helped as far as this is concerned. Mind you, I have paired the more aggressive head with WRH2 stubby handles in titanium and aluminum, so they are significantly lighter than the SS version I used to have. I think this really helps with letting the head do the shaving and I've gotten extremely comfortable shaves with this combination. After a couple months at this point, I no longer even realize I'm using a more aggressive razor and my shaves are very carefree. I have yet to get a single weeper or spot of irritation, whereas with the standard gap I'd get the occasional weeper and had to be more careful on my lower neck than I am now.

That's good info and thanks Gavo; look forward to your further thoughts as you continue to use your new razor! Between the Wolfman and the Mamba you have some serious hardware- use in great health!

Thanks ML, your favorable reviews are really what have me on the fence as it seems we have a lot of commonalities from our forum interaction. My first thought was start with default then adjust however then I consider that I have a fondness for razors with more gap so why not just go for the .74mm?

Don't even get me started flip flopping on brushed or polished...

Thanks again for the perspective.

Haha thanks kwsher.

For most things I don't have addictions, by razor acquisition disorder is real.

I have the polished version. Lets just say James put alot of effort in shining that razor up. I have never seen steel that shiny before.

The fact that the Wolfman uses 316 S/S v. the 303 used in the ATT would put it a cut above.

If I remember my S/S alloys well enough, the 316 is a little more "stainless" to most environments than 303. Further, it is a bit harder to machine and that means tools wear out faster requiring more frequent replacement. That translates to a tougher razor, albeit a slightly more pricey one.

That said, it's probably much ado about nothing since the ATT product is more than adequate for the job and is pleasing its owners greatly. Just sayin'.

You are spot on Beamon. I do have an ATT setup [Atlas and Kronos] and enjoy it a great deal. Solid kit and absolutely no complaints.

I should have recognized the name. You should try to get as many opinions from those who have tried both blade gaps as possible. Not that the opinions of others don't matter, it's just that I thought the standard WR1 was the holy grail razor until I tried the increased blade gap. After 3 shaves I sold the standard and haven't looked back since. I don't think I know of anyone who has tried both and doesn't prefer the .74mm gap. I know James uses one paired to an aluminum handle from what he told me.
