Hi Guys,

Now that James has increased his prices, my hope of landing a Wolfman razor has been re-kindled. I understand that James will no longer "adjust" blade gaps after purchase. As such, I need some advice to make sure I order the correct blade gap. I currently own a Wolfman Guerrilla (blade gap of 0.69 I believe) and would like something a little more aggressive.

Thank you.

I would not use a Guerrilla as a baseline for your decision. I was lucky to try most of the available WR gaps in both SB and OC - .61, .67, .74.

I like aggressive razors, but prefer them to be also on the smooth side. From all of the above I settled on the .67 and .74 for the SB and .61 and .67 for the OC, the .67 SB being my most favorite of the four. The .74 is a bit too rough for my taste. While it is similar in aggressiveness to my Charcoal Goods L3, the .74 feels much rougher.

I used to have a WR Guerrilla SB and it was much less efficient than WR .61.

Based on your experience, it sounds like the 0.61(solid bar) may be what I'm looking for. Thanks

Is there a way to measure the blade gap of a razor?  I was lucky and managed to get a WR1 OC/SB just before James closed his wait list a few years back.  I didn't know anything about blade gap at the time and still don't really beyond some razors are more aggressive and/or efficient than others.  So I never specified a blade gap  when I told James what I wanted.  The razor I got is a beauty and its very aggressive and efficient.  What would have been James' default blade gap?

I have a .61 and .74 SB I would agree with the statement that the .67 is probably my sweet spot. I get amazingly comfortable shaves with the .61 and great close shaves with the .74-can lead to weepers but also rewards technique if you pay attention but not a care free autopilot shaver has given me the some of my best shaves.

The standard gap/default gap for the WR 1 is 0.61

Thanks GoHabs its interesting how different the shave feels with the same blade gap between the SB and the OC sides. In hindsight I should have got 2 razors one SB and one DOC so that there wouldn't be that difference from one side to the other. Minor concern and pretty inconsequential in the big picture.

I agree not to use the Guerilla as a baseline as it’s much different than the WR1. I have a .54 and it was way more efficient than the Guerilla. I say go with the standard gap.

I would go on a wim and suggest to get a WR1 SB .67.
