A absolutely beautiful coticule, a les latneuses coticule that looks more like a Jnat that Coti. It is a hard stone with a reflective surface after being lapped. It delivers a keen edge while being smooth. It is hanging with three 5 x 2.5 naturels. All four all from the wild

This is in my top three coticules. A primitive Bout, roughly 4 x 6 inches in a wooden case. Just barely visible inside the lid under the funk is the name Layman Ross and dated 1788. A very hard stone and with oil delivers a sublimely smooth edge. I am lucky to be the caretaker of this stone. First three pictures were as found at a estate sale and then after restoration

This must be the 3rd site/forum I’ve been on where this same guy is CONSTANTLY posting all these rare/valuable honing stones he “finds”. Meanwhile I can literally search for weeks and find not even a single one of these highly regarded stones.

Perhaps because there are a few individuals who have no life and literally scavenge for them day and night. Why? How many do you need? Is it a hoarder thing? Does he sell them?

It’s cool to see someone who could use/needs it find something awesome, but no one gives a crap about seeing some nut with a mountain of stones post his latest fix just to please himself. Something isn’t right there…,

Tim seems like a really nice guy, very knowledgeable, and never short on kind words to share.

Your post is one of the rudest, meanest, and most un-called for responses to any I have seen on multiple forums.

Who are you to judge him for how he enjoys this hobby and shares his experiences with the rest of the community?

If you don’t like it, don’t click on the thread.  There is no need to disparage someone else that you don’t know.  It is sad that you thought your post was acceptable on any level.  I feel sorry for you.

Thank you the kind comments Matt. I just seen this researching some stones. This buckwheat need a timeout and a cookie. If there is any silver lining, in posting, he is a one and done

This is a cherry on top, The Holy Trinity of Coticules. Deep Rock, Old Rock, and Salm Rock. Three you don’t see together every day and all from the wild
