Man o man did this hobby TKO these vendors. These two cant even get up for a standing 8 count. Has anyone received a brush from these folks recently? I wanted a Wiborg just as much as I wanted a Paladin when I got into this hobby, although the Paladin was my first real craving for a beautiful luxury brush. Then eventually I wanted a Varlet and a Wiborg. Thankfully I've been able to get a few Paladins, but still no Wiborg or Varlet. What is going on with these two vendors? Anyone think that Declaration Brushes will end up like these two or will L&L keep up with the demand?

My goal is still to own a Wilborg and Varlet brush.

Is it better to burn out or fade away? I do hope both of these talented artisans are doing well both physically and mentally. The mystery continues.

“What is going on with these two vendors?”

“The mystery continues.”

They simply have other things going on in their lives. There’s no mystery in their eyes. Life is full and these are side gigs.

Florian, like the vast majority of wet shavers, doesn’t visit shaving forums and has other responsibilities.

OSP soaps in London (a nice product) just closed shop a few days ago. James is just busy.

It’s normal.

I sure wish I'd have gotten a couple of Wiborgs before it became such a challenge. Oh well life goes on. Would have been nice though.

I have owned both a wiborg and a varlet , not sure what all the craze for these brushes is all about. They are nice quality but nothing that exceeds what is offered currently from Thater , Shavemac etc. I greatly prefer all my old M&F brushes to either of these but that’s just me. To see gents spend two to three times what a new brush sold for is ridiculous in terms of what you are getting performance wise. If you believe shave brushes to be a fine art of sort and collectible with above brushes mentioned considered must haves then sure.

I hope L&L keeps up with the demand! Declaration brushes are my favorite!

The quality of the Varlet and Wiborg brushes established their following and the limited supply added to their appeal. I am fortunate to have both in my den. There are brushes currently available from vendors that are comparable in in quality and price. My recent brush purchases have been from Paladin. The quality of the brushes and customer service makes them my first choice for a brush.

I’ll second this emotion. I’ve tried quite a few brushes from Shavemac to Thater to even some other artisan knots. The four Paladins I own are the very best brushes I’ve ever used and I feel by a long shot. I’ll jusr have to stick with Paladin then and make sure that they are supported.

As far as Varlet and Wiborg perhaps a couple more years and we will see where they fit in all this. Congrats to anyone that was able to snag one of those.

I have both brushes and I do think the Varlet is the better brush. But with that said with all of the other brush makers out there people have options. Paladin make awesome brushes and the knots are no slouches. Declarations are probably some of the best knots for the money. Ron from Chiseled Face also has Landmark Essentials. Finally you have Simpson, M&F, Shavemac, Thater, etc all still making really good brushes that are easily accessible.

Is it nice having a Wiborg or Varlet? Yeah. Are they worth the price? Retail yes, massive markups no. Are there brushes out there that are just as good or better? Yeah.

I might not be able to get my hands on a Wiborg or Varlet but my 4 Declaration brushes are fantastic!
