I think thee is so much subjectivity going on with sense of smell that I wouldn't question my sense of smell - something is making a link in your nose brain and its just as real as any other experience. Now if you said it smelled exactly like Tabac that would be another story Big Grin .

On the scent topic...I’m looking for WK recommendations.

I tried King of Oud. It was too heavy of a colgne frag. A mediocre one at that.
And I tried Merchant of Tobacco. That was nixed immediately by my wifemate.
Currently I have Dark Vetiver. Its generally agreeable, but its not the donkey milk base.

I’d like to try the DM base. Suggestions?

I love the Lav Sublime!! Also the Fougère Bouquet. I have many but those are my two favorites.

I’d start with Lav Sublime in donkey milk. Their lightest and most approachable scent. That said, on April 20th they will release two single scents...a coconut and a grapefruit both in donkey milk.

I would also recommend Fougere Bouquet. Grapefruit and coconut obviously sound great.

His scents are hit or miss for me. Base is great but the scents are all over the place. For those I have or had in DM.

Hmmm.

Lav Sublime gets a number of recommendations.

It's out of stock at Maggards and I just can make the click for nearly thirty bucks at the WK site. Maybe I'll try a WTB. sigh

I think the version they have at Maggards may be the earlier Concerto version (last year’s) without donkey milk. The current version -which people here are referencing - is only on the WK site...Earlier version of Lav Sublime only had fragrance oils and this new edition contain only essential oils in the blend.

Unfortunately, two more samples just got thrown out for me.  I tried Merchant of Tobacco and Project leather yesterday.  So I started lathering up Merchant of Tobacco (after getting tons of chocolate off of the sample) and I found it didnt change much.  Unusually, my wife was in the room as I was lathering and she was catching a whiff of this and hated it just like I did.  Its chocolate, with tobacco underneath?  She couldn't get over the chocolate and she loves tobacco scents and she kept expecting more tobacco like I did, only we just kept smelling chocolate. Just what my non educated sniffer picks up.

Next up was Project Leather, and....I didn't detect alot of leather.  This was unfortunate.  The scent was sort of a bright, weird off-putting scent I can't really describe.  It almost smelled medicinal to me? It was really one of the strangest scents I've experienced in shaving so far.

Neither one of these samples got shaved with after lathering.

So sadly at this point, I have ONE soap in this new Donkey Milk base: Man From Mayfair.  I've tried Project Leather, Merchant of Tobacco, Monaco Royale (skin irritation), and King of Oud (skin irritation).

I have to say though, that many of these scents are just not for me which is unfortunate.  Hopefully I'll find another scent or two of his, obviously i'll eventually replace my vegan Fougere Bouquet with the new formula, but right now when we are talking $25 to get one of these donkey milk soaps, I'd rather spend my money on scents I do not yet have. It is such a shame for me because this is without a doubt the best performing soap I've ever used.  I just can't seem to get anymore of it.
