Introducing Monaco Royale, a soap made using Donkey Milk as one of the ingredients.

Cleopatra used Donkey Milk, the Greeks saw the potential in it, the Romans made a luxury drink out of it. Hippocrates recommended it. Modern day French produce Donkey Milk soaps.

Fast forward to 2017: We at WhollyKaw make this right here in the US - Monaco Royale with Donkey Milk.

By default Donkey Milk can be only be in our tallow formulation.

Vegan Version

Our vegan formulation is getting an upgrade for this scent. We have incorporated the vegan equivalent of lanolin in the form of Soybean Glycerides and Shea Butter Unsaponifiables. This has the same properties as lanolin to compose a product that meets the need for a long lasting film-forming, moisturizing agent.

Limited production due to the availability of Donkey Milk and the vegan equivalent of lanolin.

First come first served.

Product will be ready for shipping on or before March 25.

Details, details

What is Donkey Milk?

Donkey milk was used in Ancient Egypt and Cleopatra bathed in donkey milk and her beauty was reported by many writers of that time.

A more scientific approach and skincare science now validates the use of donkey milk for skin care. Donkey milk contains a high amount of proteins, lactoglobulins, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. It also contains significant levels of vitamin C, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), and vitamin B9. It has skin nourishing properties, rich in proteins, minerals, Omega-3 and -6 fatty acids and vitamins. It also offers collagen stimulation and anti-wrinkle activity.

What are the benefits?

Skin nourishment, enhancement of skin moisturization, and protection against free radical production. Components contained in the milk are biocompatible with the human skin and easily absorbed. Lysine contained in the milk contribute to increasing skin vitality.

This all sounds like pushing the envelope, and I think that is commendable! Very interesting developments, truly.

Could you share a few words on the scent of the Monaco Royale products? (I did read the scent notes on the website, but perhaps something in addition to them — the general “vibe” of Monaco Royale…)

Thank you for the comments.

The scent at first leans towards woodsy but the sandalwood and other woods are muted by the vetiver notes. It is a couple of steps away from the fougère family. The labdanum and ambergris lends the amber touch. Synthetic version of ambergris is used. Amber and the musk fixates the whole blend.

Thanks for the description. It sounds like a classy, pleasing scent that should work well all year round.

Welp, I caved and ordered me some Monaco Royale (tallow). I've been wanting to try Wholly Kaw for a while now and with all the rave reviews of the tallow formula and the addition of donkey milk, how could I resist? Besides that, the scent sounds very intriguing and complex. Hopefully it won't take too long with it being on backorder, but at the same time it's not like I'm in desperate need of more shaving soap. Can't wait to try it!

Do share your impressions in due time. I’ve been equally intrigued by the vegan formula of Monaco Royale, hopefully there will be reviews of both versions available in the near future.

Sounds good, thanks! I'm thinking I should have ordered the aftershave too in case I really like the scent. Oh well. Is there any chance of Maggard sticking this scent in the future?
