I've become a big fan of Wholly Kaw soaps over the last few months. Their performance puts them among MY top 5 artisan soap makers and their scents are right up their too. The donkey milk LE soaps are amazing. In any case, I hadn't tried any of the WK vegan soaps until this morning when I lathered up a recently acquired tub of Twice as Spice. It lathers incredibly well and I honestly cannot really tell the difference between it and WK's tallow offerings - WK soaps, like many artisan soaps, are thirsty and adequate hydration is important to a good lather and shave. WK calls the scent "Another take on a classic fragrance from the last century. A more sophisticated version reminiscent of Old Spice." I don't have a lot of experience with Old Spice, old or new, however, I find this scent to be really nice and not particularly Old Spicey, maybe thats why they say "reminiscent". I was getting pleasant sandalwood in there but apparently there isn't any in it. It has "Fresh and clean, woody notes with top notes of orange, lemon, spices, clary sage heart notes of cinnamon, carnation, jasmine, and base notes of tonka bean, vanilla, cedar wood, ambergris, frankincense and nag champa." WK is very good at blending its scents and I have trouble picking out any single one of those fragrances in the final mix but then again, I'm more of a like : don't like kind of person when it comes to scent and I like this one. If you're looking for a nice vegan soap (or tallow) you might want to give Wholly Kaw a try.
