Who amongst us choose cartridge razors?

I use a double edge exclusively at home and when traveling by car. When I travel by air and am gone 5 days or less, I’m carrying on my bags. I don’t trust the airlines and would hate for them to lose my luggage on a business trip. So, I bring a cart in my carry on. I have used a Mach 3 for years before finding out about double edge razors and have a ton of blades from those days so that is my go to travel razor. But I’ve heard people rave about The Guard and now the new Skin Guard. I never migrated to the Fusion as I believe less is more when it comes to razor blades on my face. I haven’t tried the Guard yet and am tempted to by a SkinGuard to compare them against one another. But I’m guessing someone out there has tried all or most of them. How about someone giving us a rundown of their thoughts on the Guard, the Skin Guard, the Mach 3 and the Fusion. 1, 2, 3 and 5 blades covered in that selection.

I use a Trac II when traveling by air. I switched to a DE because it looks cool and because it is a lot less expensive than cartridges. The Trac II gives really good shaved with Kiss My Face cream, no brush or other gear required.

I use a 5 blade to shave my head and a de or se on my face.

My lifestyle has changed drastically and I am far more nomadic than ever during most of the year. I keep a twin blade elcheapo cart razor in my kit with a travel size tube of Dollar Shave Club shave butter. Fast and easy when I need it. Luckily, this doesn't happen often and I can make the time for a wet shave. If cartridge razors do it for you, I'll like you anyway! I do like the DSC shave butter simply because it works.

For me I have nothing against carts... haven't used one in a couple years. I did take some when I traveled for work for the ease of it two years ago. That was the last time I used one. For me it wasn't the shave it provided that turned me off it was the FEEL. Felt like I was using a child's toy compared to the steel and quality and heft of a DE razor.. it just felt..... well WEIRD.... and the lack of audible feedback threw me off... every shave that week felt "off"....

I use carts when I'm in a rush, start my day really early or when I'm travelling. Put it this way, DE is like driving an old school sports car, but you also like the benefits of a modern automatic sedan. My Hydro 5 leaves me fresh and ready in two WTG passes. If I use Arko or Tabac and a synthetic brush, my lather is ready in a minute, my shave takes two minutes with the Hydro 5 and the whole process takes five. No way to do that with a DE.
What's not to love in efficiency?.

I dislike cartridge razors for the most part, but I the Wilkinson Bonded System a lot and use it in my regular rotation, as well as on trips.

I used an Atra-style razor that I bought many years ago. Personna made it. I brought it on vacation. Didn't like it. The last cart I liked was the Sensor circa 1990. 

So I no longer use them. But I do like Edge Gel. Which I bring up because it's the shaving soap equivalent of a cart to many in the wet shaving community. In other words, heresy! 

The closest thing in feel to a cart is my Parker Injector Adjustable. With a Chinese Schick, it's as effortless and carefree a shave as a cart. But way more fun. 

I am usually use cartrige when travelling. I have on hand a Bolin Webb razor with Gillette Proshield on it. Now, when we will have fun travelling again !!!

Yes, we are all different, and it is good to know your experience too. I am curious about one thing:  Have you tried the Gillette Guard?  I ask because IIRC some people say that the single blade of the Gillette Guard is good for avoiding ingrown hairs.

I've used it & would say it's pretty good in that regard. But the angle of the blade also matters (I feel that being more parallel to the skin is advantageous), and the OneBlade and the apparently-vanished Bump Fighter are better in that regard & the rapidly-vanishing Dorco PL602 is at least as good.
