I blame it all on James Bond and Shirley Bassey.

Diamonds were ingrained into the culture a long time before James Bond and Shirley Bassey.

The purpose of art is to look at it. A high resolution photograph enlarged to the actual size of a painting is probably just as good as the real thing to most people. Whereas a razor has to be used to be appreciated.

I look at some of my razors as art. I enjoy looking at them as well as using them. I also like knowing that I’m supporting a small business and not someone trying to copy someone else’s work. It might cost more, but it’s worth it to me.

I do this with many of my brushes as I have numerous custom handles that I have set specific knots into and I use them for my SOTD photos.
I really do see them as 'works of art' seeing how they greatly enhance my photos, and I do enjoy using them, as well.  Shy

People who buy super spendy razors often make similar claims, apparently thinking it will prop up the resale price of their razors. That argument is devoid of logic, however, and won't keep razor prices at grossly inflated levels. It is a razor dot com book of sorts, and the bubble is about to burst. The same thing happened to certain vintage razor models several years ago. Very surprising, given that Vikings Blade Chieftain, Parker Variant, Ming Shi 2000s, and even Merkur, Muhle, and Edwin Jagger sell affordable razors that shave great. Maybe this isn't about wetshaving anymore?

I mean the vintage guitar market collapsed for a while but went right back up.

there just havent been that many genuine wolfman razors made. sort of like bursts, unless the whole market releases at once you shouldnt expect much in the way of price movement.

not like I really care, a forum member here sold me a WR2 at a very fair price and Im happy to have it even if it does go to zero; I really like the razor but tbh I prefer my two CG LVL 2 razors.

That is the difference between you and a lot of other collectors. You appreciate the razor for what it is, and are happy to have and use the razor no matter what. There are lots of folks who buy very expensive razors, often at wildly inflated prices, who view things differently. For them, it is the resale value of the razor which seems to matter most. If anything is said that they feel might cause the resale price to drop, they start tripping. They will come up with all kinds of grasping-at-straw arguments why the price of their razor will go up, and is as much or more than they paid for it. As if "because I say so" is a reason. IMHO, they are doing this because they got carried away and are worried that they overpaid. I have seen it not only with Wolfman, but also with Gillette Toggle and Bottom Dial Fatboys a several years ago. It starts to get ridiculous after awhile.

It is not that I think any of these razors are poorly made, on the contrary. I used to work in a machine shop, much of which involved machining stainless steel. A lot of thought and skill has been put into making the Wolfman razors. I have zero respect for all the weirdness surrounding these razors on the forums, however. The same goes for all the other "gotta have but can't get" shaving items. Then again, the whole wetshaving forum scene has become pretty strange IMHO. It is sure not like it was back in the day. Aw well, we still have Reddit wicked_edge and YouTube shaving videos, and DFS is still a great place to interact with vendors. Or perhaps I should say the only place to interact with vendors. Wink

and I do know the handles are a different design.

I requested the person to join this forum and provide the information so I am certain he will soon. DE razors have been around for years and every DE razor out there is cloned in some way or another.
Did you ever receive and test the Wolfman clone? If so, how did it work out? Did the clonemeister person ever join the forum? If he did, what is his member name? It should be interesting to read his posts.
