In slants ATT or Ikon. Personally there is no comparison with those and the Merkur.

Never tried the ATT but have both Ikons. I would go with the Shavecraft 102 slant - smooth and efficient.

Certainly can't beat the price point on the 102 - It's an excellent shaver reasonably priced shaver, if you can find one.  They do show up on forum sales and what not though.

The original Ikon slant is quite nice as well, whether DLC or uncoated.  I looked for the Shavecraft 102 on Thurs or Fri last week and they were out.  I checked a couple of days later for the heck of it and they were in stock [not for long]-that's when I posted that they were in stock.

Shaven in the Past

I was in the same boat as you. I wanted to get a Slant; specifically a vintage Hoffritz or the ATT. However both are kinda pricey (for a real good Hoffritz). I settled for a 37C to try out and then planned on selling it. The truth is I really like the 37C and didn't sell it but rather I added to my rotation. A really nice looking and performing razor. Someday if the situation presents itself I will pick up a Hoffritz but they can be pricey. I had a bead on a mint one 2 weeks ago but it went from slightly unreasonable to $580.00 in the last 2 hours.

I use an ATT S1 and I absolutely love it! If you don't want to fork out the money for the Above the Tie slant, I highly recommend the Merkur 37C. I actually find it to be a more forgiving razor than the S1. I recently acquired one on a pass around and it's amazing. I totally would've bought one had I used it first.

ATT razors are nice real nice. I know they cost but if you take care of it it last a long time.

Update. The RAD got to me just added a Lutz double slant to my rotation. What a smooth easy shave. I found it much smoother that my 37C, although I still find the 37C a find shaver which I will keep.
