Have been using half DE SilverMax (rebranded EuroMax) platinum coated SS blades in my Pearl "The Sleek" SE razor for clean up passes after a SR shave.

They are not very sharp but I can't seem to wear them out! Obviously I am on the third pass and there isn't much beard left. I am wondering if by the third lathering (I re-lather between passes like everyone I suppose) what is left of the beard is so soft that it doesn't degrade the blade much?

Maybe shave prep is what matters most in getting mileage out of blades?

Thoughts?
