I have a kanayama strop (#3) which I ordered from aftamestokyo. I didn't know what to expect from it, but I knew it would have an interesting feel to it. It is now my favorite strop, over my Tony Miller. The miller is better than my previous strop (Illinois), but I prefer the Kanayama and wouldn't use anything else if I had the choice.
It is very thin and supple, and has very little draw, just feels smooth. I don't think they will be around much longer, as the maker is apparently in his 90s. Then again, they do restock them every so often, so maybe they will continue the business with a second generation maker.

If I could only keep one strop, it would be my Scruppleworks oil-tanned Horween leather / linen strop. It's simply fantastic, and really not expensive if you are only going to have one strop. I have the 3" version with 3 ply handles.

It's worth the 6 weeks wait time. And 1,000 kronor sounds expensive, but at the moment it's US$ 117.

Sadly, the maker of the finest strop I own has passed on .. R.I.P. Neil Miller..

I've got a lot of strops .. Truth be told, too many. Tony Miller, SRD, Neil Miller, Scrupleworks, Kanayama. The Kanayama #3 is undoubtedly the best bargain in strops today, provided one can be found. Neil Miller's shell cordovan was sublime! I've also got a Scrupleworks Vegetable tanned horsehide that is beautiful, but I love that shell!
I've got something new and unique coming from Torolf (Scrupleworks,) that should be making it's way here shortly. For a time it will be the only one of it's kind, so I won't say any more at this time.
I like a slick draw ... I don't like the razor near being taken from my hand like Latigo, so other's opinions could vary. It's purely personal, but if I had known years ago what I know now, I could have saved myself a lot of money and some heartache...

So far - my favorite is a custom one-off I purchased used - English bridle leather and fire hose - vintage NOS. Secondly - a little more in the budget side - Star Shaving in Oklahoma USA - I purchased used but, absolutely love it plus it is 3" wide which is fun. I loved starting on a narrow strop and hone and then changing sizes with experience.
