Oh, wyzeOne!   (sorry, I couldn't resist...)

Congrats on discovering straight shaving! I started in May of this year and never looked back.

I also experimented with my left (non-dominant) hand, but on my right side, not my left. Ultimately what worked out for me was using my dominant hand for the entire shave.

Anyway, enjoy! At the end of the day, a straight blade is the gentlest, most precise way to shave. Smile

Or even in the morning .... Dodgy

Wostenholm IXL Celebrated 6/8 hollow

I finally have the edge on this razor where I always knew it could be. Just a fantastic and SUPER clean shave!

Last night I used my Kobar "Thursday" 5/8 Solingen extra hollow

I put this puppy in some bocote wood scales. It shaves like a champ, but I am not thrilled with the scales...just didn't come out as I had hoped, so they may be changed (or not) in the near future. The grain pattern is gorgeous, but I screwed up shaping them, and they are not quite what I envisioned going in to the project...

I agree with you and really like the grain pattern so what is wrong, in your eyes, with the shape of the scales?

It's not bad, but the hinge is off center and it closes oddly.

It's definitely not the shape I was trying for. Trying for a more angular shape, but I went too far and didn't have much choice but to round things off. I did it's twin, "Sunday", in teak and she came out fantastic:

You can see how different it is.

So yea...the grain patter is gorgeous, but definitely not what I had in mind...I have a few other interesting blanks that I might just try again with a different piece. Maybe Kingwood or Bird's Eye Maple...

Or maybe not. Like I said, it closes a little odd, but otherwise works fine and looks decent, and I have no intention of selling it. I just sold "Sunday", and "Thursday" is going into my rotation. My sole round point...
