Verbena Toscana Hard Soap (Abbate y La Mantia) soapy verbena
Shave 4

Every now and then I like to review the shaves I’ve had recently and repeat the one that turned out best. This week’s best shave was Verbena Toscana, one of Abbate y La Mantia’s hard soaps. What made it so good? The finish. This light lather left my skin feeling extra smooth, and twelve hours after I put down my razor, I could hardly find a barb. There was no burn, no irritation, and only a slight sensation of dryness. The scent is nothing more than a robust verbena, but it’s fresh and clean and soapy, and a pinch of added menthol turns it into an excellent hot weather soap.

Fougere Friday

I've said it numerous times, and it still rings true - Janus Vegan is one of my favorite bases. Not just bases from Grooming Dept. Of any base I've tried. Despite the lack of tallow, this stuff is just incredible. I'd love to see Mo do another run of the Janus Vegan. I know that Mo doesn't like to look back when it comes to his base formulas, so it probably won't happen. A guy can wish, right?

It is a great scent. I also liked the green "Soap" in the same base. Very similar, yet to my unsophisticated sniffer, Melody added a bit more oomph and a few additional notes. I'd be thrilled to get more of either.
