Wm. Neumann & Co. - Bay Rum

A robust, traditional bay rum scent, full of clove and spices, supported by citrus.

Seemingly, not a robust, traditional lather that we are all used to. Kinda creates small curds at times when loading (just add a drop or two of water) and slightly dissipates towards the end of the pass (not terribly like GFT, et al., but visually noticeable). While face-lathering, it behaves and appears just like any shave soap.

Summary: No nicks, slick enough, protective enough. Serviceable, and needs to be given more opportunities to be fair. But after one usage with each formula, their shave cream was vastly superior in performance yesterday. Post shave, my skin has been a bit hot... However, the caveats to that are that I shaved MUCH sooner than normal (probably at 18 hours, I never do that) and that it could be just this particularly robust, spicy scent (not the soap formula).

Tobacco (Eufros) cardamom tobacco
Shave 5

With each use, this soap takes on spicier, richer notes, while the plastic scent fades. This transformation reminds me of a shift I’ve seen before. Eufros Incienso soap started off smelling like an unsavory mix of dusty furniture and dried herbs. It was odd. But after about ten lathers, it blossomed into something remarkable, a full-bodied frankincense, earthy with a whiff of lemon. I felt like I was shaving in a cathedral. I wonder if the same transformation might happen with this Tobacco soap. I’d like to end up in an old study, whose shelves are lined with leather-bound books. That would be worth the wait.

Nero, Neumann's Bay Rum looks tasty – bentonite, slippery elm, marshmallow, algae, thistles, chickweed, and nettles. Sounds like Mr Neumann is an old time herbalist. I might have to dip my brush into a pot of this. (But 8 oz? That's half a pound of soap!)

Yes sir, Bouki. They actually called it the Half-Pounder haha. The shave cream basically has most/all the same "booster " ingredients to my eye (see my post yesterday), just the different saponified oils (soap base) and the use of Potassium Hydroxide (soft) instead of Sodium Hydroxide (firm).
I'll give this soap another try soon and report back.

Dave , who makes that soap ?

So I first saw this on another shave forum, I can't remember which one. Clown Puke is bits and pieces of different soaps that you either have leftover in a shave bowl, or pieces from samples or almost finished tubs. You put them all together in a container and you get.....Clown Puke! I found the image online and added the text. In fact if you look closely you can see the watermark in the lower left of the image since I didn't pay for it.

Yes I've made Clown Puke tubs myself before. Yours looked so professional I thought someone came out with one. Thanks and great job !

That's a really cool idea.  So if I don't like the label on certain soaps, now all i have to do is find one I do like and print/cut/past!
