Nuage de Citron (Ethos) lemon sorbet
Shave 2

In 1958, Johnson & Johnson unveiled Lemon Pledge, changing the scent world forever. With just one spritz, the ubiquitous scent of fresh lemon became synonymous with visions of tidy desks and gleaming coffee tables. Perfumers faced a challenge: how to use lemon without evoking furniture polish? They discovered that pairing citrus with green or creamy scents did the trick.

Frank took the creamy route with his Nuage de Citron. In this soap lemon rises above household cleaners. Each time I uncork it, I start thinking of gelato al limone on Capri. It’s the smell of relaxed luxury.

Saponificio Varesino - Felce Aromatica (Beta 4.3)

It was pushing fifty-something degrees when I got home after skiing, so I wanted to squeeze in this spring scent to cap off a beautiful afternoon. I had this scent and the next two SV scents way back when they first came out in their respective original formulae, probably 6-7 years ago (totally guessing). I wanted to like them (shoot, I even blind-bought 2 of their 2-band brushes right when they were released... and those large wooden bowls they made). But, truth is, I really never had much success with the soaps. I never had issues "getting it to lather" but I always felt like I never "got it right". So, I sold those eventually, a long time ago.
But, fast-forward to now, I just picked up the Felce Aromatica again recently, now in the Beta 4.3. Going from my previous knowledge of SV lathering so thick, I did a pretty quick load today and added a lot of water. The lather was still super thick, at least visually. Well, hate to say it, but it wasn't slick or cushiony. I don't want to blame the soap, it could just be that I didn't load long enough. I'm also one who needs to load MdC long as other soaps (I can't do a 10 swirl load), otherwise I get a terrible shave/post with that too (even though the lather looks great). So maybe that's what's going on here... SV soaps load super easily like MdC, so maybe I need to keep loading anyways... Just like I do with MdC.
I also, for this reason, can't really comment on how the Bic blade is on the third use... Will need to start that work over with a new blade.
But that shave was not comfortable (although no nicks), and the post shave is not great (tight). WIP.

Today I used SV Manna di Sicilia 4.3 and added a bit of Mystic Water Cedar and Sage on top

Nice lather and shave

____

Nero Every time I have gotten a new puck of SV, the first few shaves are not as good as the 5-10 uses in. The earlier betas soap were more so like this and now a bit less of a break in period with beta 4.3 because they're softer now.
Anyways, I'll say the I think Felce formula has a bit of a thinner body than some of the other lathers/formulas so when you say it looked thick but didn't feel thick, I agree with you're saying. I drown the SV lathers till they are runny so if you think you may have overloaded, maybe it was a little under hydrated.

I used Pedro Fiasco Amaretto Noir soap and splash.  A nice lather for a cheaper soap.  I am not sold on the scent.  I also used a Bundubeard balm after the Amaretto Noir dried up.  It is greasy, but my skin has never felt better.  Has anyone used any Bundubeard products?
