There is something about a man lathering himself over a porcelain basin that brings out the otherworldly in a fellow. He does not seem to be attached to the planet Earth at all, but to be revolving softly about himself in some far off zone in the ether. The steady hum of the streaming water is soothing, not like waves crashing onto the beach or the rush of a river, but more like the gentle humming music of the spheres. Steam rises from the sink, its flavors a combination of citrus and wildflowers. For a few moments all is right with the world, and he finds myself saying his prayers. In this way the pleasures of the shave seem to be more real than any others. He discovers such a pure joy in this humble act. And after toweling himself dry, he feels as if he might carry the medicine of a morning shave with him all day.

With the mail today I received a very generous sample of Sir Henry's Kentucky rain from Dave Dave in KY . Thank you so much Dave!

There is no question the quality of Sir Henry's soaps. I've had a few in the past. They all perform wonderfully. No difference here, it was a good shave with a quality product.

Unfortunately for me, the scent wasn't quite in my wheelhouse. Everyone smells something a bit different, to my nose this comes off as a spicy scent with very little sweetness. It has a heavy dose of something cologne-esque. Additionally, I think there's something like bourbon or whiskey in it? I'm not a liquor drinker (actually I quit drinking almost a year ago), so it's very much a wild guess.

Thanks again for sending me the sample Dave. I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to smell it and try it out. I'll definitely be passing it on to another member in the near future. [Image: 8122d714641f9af4ff654172cc427e14.jpg]
