Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Le Vétiver (Grooming Dept) rhubarb vetiver
Shave 16 ・ 18 g left

Guess I’ll take a few more swats at this tub of Le Vétiver. According to the scale, there are only eighteen grams left. The odd thing is, I haven’t broken through the bottom yet. So after my shave today, I shoved a needle into the middle of the puck just to see how much soap was left. Looks like about ten millimeters, or about 3/8 of an inch. That’s still a lot of soap, but it’s very light soap. I gobble up between four to six grams per shave. The lather, too, is surprisingly light and fleeting, but the finish is perfect, so I’m determined to do it in. Le Vétiver is made with Grooming Dept’s Fortis base.

When the scraping was done, I gave myself a good dusting of Heeley’s Vetiver Veritas. Odd Latin, but a good scent. Starts off minty and ends with just straight, pure vetiver. I like it a lot, but for what you get, it’s pricey. I think I could get the same results with a couple bucks worth of essential oil bought at the local market.

Agree, as many straight citrus and citrus-dominant scents as there are out there, many of them very good, this might be my favorite too. I've had the soap puck twice and a stick, not sure how those ended up getting sold... But will be replaced. Again. Won't sell it again.

I used a sample of the cream today with a Sensor Excel because I wanted a shave but it needed to be quick today. Excellent shave. A few hours later now, and my skin still feels very nice.
The aftershave is excellent too... but I forgot to use it (a sample, too) today. I pulled out the big bottle of Proraso Red AS (not sure why, it's not at all a match with Arlington!!).

No new pics, so I'll just say, I'm going tomorrow Big Grin

Soap: Sir Henry's Kentucky Rain

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,481

As dominicr put it, I was one that was Jonesing for a chance to try this new offering. When a packaging change cause a delay in release he kindly made a Sample Set available for those that wanted it. YES please !! Big Grin It arrived last night and was on deck for today. At first sniff off the humungous sample jar it was light and so I took a spritz of the aftershave and got a nice scent that was to my nose heavy on the vanilla that is used a good bit in a lot of his scents. On lathering the soap though I got a nice balance scent that I enjoyed as the scents all mingled together and look forward to getting a full tub. It had the typical quality lather all have come to expect from this soapmaker. The scent as described on the website is:

It's springtime in Kentucky, the morning rain has passed. The aroma of roses comes to your nose. Present but not overly feminine. You get a whiff of the horse's saddle leather just as horse, jockey, and trainer pass by. Next up, Kentucky Bourbon steps up in it's role of boozy sweetness as it harmonizes with the sweet woods and note of citrus in your Old Fashioned cocktail. You sip your drink, smile, catch a wisp of vanilla, and know it'll be a great evening of enjoying the whole symphony of the scent we call Kentucky Rain.

I get a nice blend of all that's described with the Rose being very subtle.......Just the way I like it. I'm not saying rose fans won't pic it up more but if you're like me and not a huge fan of rose, don't skip this one as it will be appreciated without overpowering the other notes which were more to my liking when reading the description. Nice job Dom and I will be getting the tub when released for sure. Have a great day everyone !

Glad you like it. The new packaging for the soap should be a pleasant surprise.
