It's a great scent, isn't it?
Nero, this is a great one. Why does Europe fear the tallow!

We live in a time of utter and complete luxury. The home of mid-America in my growing up was a three bed, one bath detached or no garage.  That was just starting to change during my formative years but I grew up in a home just like that.  We had 9 kids and mom and dad but families were bigger then.  When we built the new barn myself and three brothers moved into two bedrooms we built above it so, yes, I was raised in a barn.  The barn was about 50 yards from the house so we had quite a lot of autonomy out there.  We also had a bathroom.  Most families had a single car.  Living on the ranch we had several more than that but we did have THE town vehicle.  Dad always drove Lincoln Town Cars but even that wasn’t big enough if we all went so we often jumped in the bed of a pickup.  Breakfast was oatmeal or eggs gathered from the hens.  Lunches were not purchase but made.  A soda was a treat and not a necessity.  Avon did big business because of lower prices.  And the man of the house had A razor and A soap.  (Mine was a Shick injector).  Now?  I have three vehicles for two people, live in a modest 5 bed, 2 bath house with two car attached garage shared with my wife.  We have a kitchen fridge and a garage fridge (the garage is for cold drinks and shaving soap storage), plus a huge deep freeze filled with plenty of grub.  I go to town whenever I want, or can have groceries delivered.  Or I can order online and never have to wear pants.  I have an in- home office set aside just for me.  A furnace that knows how I like it and an ac that know how I don’t.  And the man of the house has perhaps a dozen razors and several dozen soaps.  Which brings me to todays shave.  A while back I picked up A&E Bhang in a lot box I purchased.  Having never tried an A&E offering that I can recall I was excited to try it.  This is not his latest Kaizen base but a Shaving Butter base he used for awhile.  The scent is simply fantastic for me and the star of the show is a cannabis note.  It’s not the main note by any stretch and what the notes are I haven’t a clue but I pick up almond and a sweetness.  There is some rose in there but just a bit.  And an earthiness that I have no idea about.  I grew up in the 60s so I do know well what cannabis smells like and although I still don’t like the smell of the use, I do love the resinous and skunky smell of the plant.  The note is like a great blues song with Pino Paladino on bass.  Love the scent.  Wonder about the performance.  It lathers but it ain’t thirsty.  Post shave is excellent but it’s weird to use.  The accompanying shave balm keeps that Paladino bass line rocking and is very nice.  But will this finicky soap stay?  Don’t know yet.  This isn’t the days of a single razor and a single use-it-until-it’s -gone soap.  Love the scent.  Puzzled about the performance.  Packaging sure is lovely though.[Image: cfg7yLh.jpg]
