Vétyver (Martin de Candre) light vetiver
Shave 20 ・ 92% left
I’m twenty shaves in to this jar of Vétyver and it’s just now starting to show a divot. My spreadsheet says I should expect to get at least 230 more. If they’re all as slick and as fragrant as today’s shave, I’m going to be one happy camper for a long time. Any quibbles? Only this: Martin de Candre is awfully slick, but it doesn’t have a whole lot of cushion. That’s fine, once you get used to it. It's a soap that rewards a good clean technique. You just got to focus on keeping your angles right, and of course any pressure at all is a bad idea. In fact I’m getting my best results with just one solitary with-the-grain pass using a heavy razor and a very sharp blade. And at this time of year, a little balm isn’t a bad idea either.

I love this smell. This is the smell of juniper and pine, a little maple syrup.
