Top Ten. Made in Bulgaria.

Was the shave good? Yes. Did I feel the charcoal? No. Did I know what to expect from charcoal in a shaving cream? Nope.

Barrister’s Reserve Cool (Barrister & Mann) bergamot, lemon, and lavender
Reserve Classic・ Shave 1 ・ 102% left

With a name like Cool, you might expect this soap to have something nippy about it. While the citrus and lavender make it sweet and bright, when it comes to being bracing or brisk, Cool is lukewarm at best. If you're looking for crisp and wintry, you’ll have to supply your own chill. I happened to have a bottle of peppermint oil on hand (to keep the gekkos at bay), so I gave the soap a few drops. That totally clobbered the scent, but I got what I was looking for – a face freezing lather that numbed me to the start of a new week. Performance was typical Reserve. Under watered, it can get stringy and gluey. But just keep going back to the tap, and eventually you’ll get a glossy low emulsion that clings to your face like spilled ice cream.

Ethos Lavender

As most of you know, this is my #1 soap. One of the many things that impress me with this soap is its ability to lather exceptionally regardless of the brush I use. Some soaps are fickle with badger, boar, or synthetic. Ethos works like the champ it is with all of my brushes! Thank you Dragonsbeard for your commitment to quality, it benefits all of us in this wonderful community of wet shavers.
