Cold River Soapworks enjoys an almost cult-like following here at DFS. It’s undoubtedly a premium soap but about half of them I’ve tried create a tingling reaction and was moved on down the line. I’d given up on CRSW until this puck of Schapenmelk became part of a deal I swung with a fellow DFS’er and rather than move it along I thought to give it a try. Glory be! The stuff is creamy and slick and zero tingle. It’s shaped like a hard puck but although it’s harder than most artisan offerings I could smash in into any container but this tin will do just fine as I always hold a puck in my hand to lather, and it gets a drying period of several hours before it’ll go back into the tin. Scent is reminiscent of Mitchell’s. It’s similar but not a clone. Scent is lighter than Mitchell’s and in fact became very light on lathering. I wouldn’t count it as scent free but you can see it from there. Performance is spot on and I don’t mind if it’s low scent because it worked and was pleasant.
