La Fougère Parfaite t. (Wholly Kaw) modern Brut

Ahh, Fougère Friday is back, and that means another dip into this new tub of ‘perfect fougère’. What is a ‘perfect fougère’? Well, for WK it seems to be the current rendition of Brut: a bit thin and synthetic, but clean enough. I admit, it’s a scent that could easily be used every day, but it’s not the sort of thing you reach for on a special occasion. In my book, it’s just not the peak of fougèrity. It smells fine, but not extraordinary. For the price, I was hoping for something astonishing. The soap itself is surprisingly hard. I load a good 120 swirls and make lots and lots of trips to the tap to wet my brush. Without the extra water, my brush would bog down in the puck and stop picking up soap. With all that juice, the lather comes out thick and glossy, and I get a good shave. (But I get the same results with soaps that are half the price and pack twice the olfactory oomph.)

I figured most would find this old fashioned or a grandma rose as some say.  I've only tried the one scent from them and this is my third tub so I quite like it.  The performance is fine always easy to lather and slick enough.  I was thinking of trying the Vetiver next until someone here said the scent may not be as good as it was in the past.  I hope that hasn't happened to the rose as well.  Have a nice weekend Tommy.
The vetiver is even better! Bouki noticed his scent weakened in his tub. Mine has not. But be fair warned - this is a earthy, rooty, pure vetiver style of cream. I love mine. Guaranteed to move on BST if you don't like it. Have a good Saturday Scotty.
I think Lip is a big fan as well. Definitely a 'mans' soap.
I got a new tub of Salter's French Vetiver the other day. It's a reeker. Lot's of smoke, and dirt, and licorice. I love it. If you get a tub, you may want to keep it in short rotation. I've found that this powerful scent mellows and then fades considerably after about a year. (That may have something to do with the hot weather here. Most of my creams seem to lose their pungency after about a year. If you can keep yours cool and dry, it may have a longer shelf life.)

Never tried Salters Vetiver. Is it "rougher" than Black Velvet?

Good to know almost sounds like a peaty scotch.Smile I didn't run into any loss of scent with the Rose. One of the older tubs that I set aside to harden a bit still has a robust scent.
