Lipripper660: you tipped me right over the edge. There's a fresh tub of French Vetiver on its way to my doorstep. I aim to get better acquainted with it this time by dipping a brush into it every week until I've slicked it all up.

Havn v. (Fitjar Islands) lavender, chamomile, cedar

'Mild and unobtrusive' is how Fitjar Islands describe the fragrance of Havn. I can see that. It's certainly a scent that would work well with any sort of morning – bright and cheering for a mid-winter's shave, cool and refreshing for a hot summer scraping. I've smelled lots of cedar & lavender combinations, and they always come out smelling a bit disjointed. The herb and the wood need something to glue them together. Chamomile succeeds at this marvelously. It bridges the gap between the sappy smell of the lavender and the dry woody scent of the cedar and brings a touch of dusty citrus to the mix as well. Bright, clean, and wonderful.

   

Stirling Boat Drinks

Fall is nearly on us here in Idaho.  The flashy Fireweed has traded its flowers for downy seed.  Aspen leaves are thickening and feel leathery.  Yellowjackets are cruising to catch a last meal or two, and mosquitos have given way to deer flies.  The morning air smells like Autumn.  I do love the changing seasons and miss the ones that pass as much as I relish the ones that roll in.  Time for some of my darker soaps.  Art of Shaving Sandalwood this morning and for some reason the big note is the anise?

Cant wait for your report. My eldest borrowed the tub for a few days and I’ll be interested to see how he gets on with it.
