What soap/cream did you use today?

Why in the world do I have so many choices when this cheapy works better than fine.  Today a Polmolive stick went to the mound and pitched a no hitter.  Great scent. Easy to use. Slick and protective.  And cheap (and rumored to be discontinued).  The scent takes me back to the early 70s not because my dad used soap and brush but  because it just smells like that.  Some folks will say "dated".  I'd use the work "classic". 

That tin's looking pretty empty. 

Havane v. (Le Père Lucien) tobacco?

When Havane arrived last month it smelled like nothing but the envelope it came in. I’ve noticed this with other artisan soaps. They come off the plane faint and wan, and it takes a couple weeks of quiet time for the vigor of their fragrance to revive. A fortnight of rest and relaxation has done much to improve Havane’s scent. This morning’s lather smelled like a light soapy amber topped with a pinch of eucalyptus. Can’t say I’ve really smelled this combination of notes before. It’s sweet, clean, and pleasant, but alas, it’s not the rich cigar & rum scent I read about in the promotional material. Little bit of a disappointment there, but I’m interested to see if it continues to develop into the deep fragrance I hoped for. The lather, on the other hand, gave full satisfaction. Fine grained, slippery, and thick, it performs like one of Saponificio Varesino’s soaps.

I grew up with hot springs.  I spent time soaking in hot springs after a hike.  Or hiked to soak in a spring.  Idaho has a plethora of hot springs.  Shoot, Yellowstone is in my back yard.  I sulphurous scent of a hot springs evokes all sorts of memories and although my wife thinks I'm crazy, the scent of a sulphur-laden hot springs suits me.  So when Razorock came out with Saturnia (Tuscan herbs and sulphur rich minerals, I knew I had to try it.  The soap smells evinced but not the acrid sulphur smell of a steam clue from a springs but it's there lurking in the back ground and it transports me.  Nothing wrong with this soap.
