Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil shaving soap (tallow)

Wow! What a great shave this morning. I was too busy on Father's Day to take a brush to soap as I had a ton of family over to prep dinner for and I rowed my drift boat down the south fork Snake for a son that morning. The day was even more awesome than a good shave. This morning I used the gear I had planned for Fathers Day but didn't get to.

The Cortland can is full of AOS Sandalwood, my all time favorite soap of all time by a rather wide margin. I got this one dialed in. Scent is heavenly. Quick to load. Quick to lather. Tolerant of a fairly wide range of water but it definitely has a sweet spot. Post shave that rivals any produced. Plenty of slickness. And.......discontinued.

Barrister’s Reserve Cool t. (Barrister & Mann) bergamot, lemon, lavender, oakmoss

More moss than lemon, more lavender than bergamot, Cool offers a robust but downbeat fragrance. It also makes a fine thirsty lather. I just wish I liked how it smells. I take a whiff and I’m in a overlit drugstore in some rustbelt suburb in the late 1960s. Authentic, but why do I want to be here?

Right now I am giving the Abschaum by Rumble 59 the treatment 3017. A solid performer with a very nice oldschool scent of laundry detergent.
