Traditionnel v. (Le Père Lucien) lemon, rosemary, thyme, lavender, eucalyptus
Seven cranks on the menthol mill turned this herby lather into a polar fougère. It was very refreshing and just the right shave for this hot and muggy afternoon. It’s hard to fathom how a soap this simple (4 ingredients not counting the water or fragrance) can produce such a supple finish. Looking over the list of ingredients, I don’t see any Shea butter or kokum butter or meadowfoam oil or BabyFoam (sodium cocoyl isethionate) or any of the exotic fats that soapcookers tuck into their products to mollify the skin. There’s just a dab of glycerine, but that seems to be all it takes to leave my face feeling like silk. The latest version of this soap does contain Shea butter. I've ordered a tub just to see if LPL's found any way to gild this lily.
