Wild Oranges (Meißner Tremonia) ?
Meißner Tremonia prepares their own soap samples. They do this by flaking a puck of soap into crumbly bits and then scooping 10 grams of the soap chips into a small plastic bag. It's not a bad system, but it creates a very large surface area. This allows the scented oils to evaporate quickly, so that when your sample arrives, it may smell mostly of soap, not scent. That's a real shame, because by most accounts, Meißner Tremonia's products smell quite good and fairly strong. Of the six samples I've tried, though, only Strong 'n' Scottish has an immediately discernible fragrance (it's a doozy). From now on, I'll be sampling MT's pastes, which I hope will better retain their smell.
Today's lather with Wild Oranges was splendid. It started off scummy, but after stirring it around for a minute or two and I got a very thick, cushiony tub of pale orange suds that led to an excellent first pass. But it still smelled like stale airport soap. So, I spritzed it with a couple shots of Hermès Orange Verte, which helped revive the soap's citrus notes. After that, it was sublime.
