Cold River Soapworks Madman's Bouqet--with ylang ylang, clary sage and rose this richly scented soap in the Glide base produces a thick glossy lather that is very slick.

Is it as chocolaty as everyone says. I always hear you don’t smell the tobacco and it’s like lathering your face with a Hersey’s bar lol

The gloss and glide of Mike's lather still surpasses just about everything else on my shelf. This soap was great five years ago, and it's still marvelous today. Although I'm always interested in new soap scents and new soap recipes, there's something reassuring in using a product that started out excellent and, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't been tweaked since. Cross my fingers that nothing notable will change in the future.

Windsor (D.R. Harris & Co. Ltd.) leather, pepper, vetiver

Hard soaps like Windsor seem to perform better and better when I use them several times in a row. For instance, today I lathered this puck twice. My first attempt was stiff and airy, adequate but not exciting. Now, I know Windsor well. In fact, it used to be my only soap, and I churned my way through a whole tub. I remember getting some pretty good shaves from it. So, after a disappointing first lather, I loaded up again from the wet puck. This time the lather drank like a beast and came out thick and slick, altogether as excellent as its aroma. Results like that lead me to believe this soap is probably a good candidate for deep blooming and consecutive shaves.
