I've been skipping the Arko in my alphabetized soap rotation list, because I don't like the scent.
Tonight I thought I'd give it another chance, seeing that it's a tallow-based soap and all.
I ended up with a really close shave, with a Derby (5) in a RazoRock SLOC. I had forgotten how slick this stuff is.
So, it's back in the rotation.

(I can't decide if that guy looks more like Ray Liotta or a young Tony Curtis.)

It doesn't mean I'll buy any more when the current stick is finished. That scent is just some kind of cruel prank. ?

HaHa!  Now that you mention it, he does look like a young Ray Liotta  Smile

Black Watch was added to the Seaforth! brand in 1953. I’ve never smelled the original version, but I don’t imagine it smelled much like today’s Black Watch. Spearhead’s modern take on this scent is sweet and very fruity with whiffs of jasmine and leather. It reminds me of nag champa, the flowery incense Mrs Bouki burns when she’s practicing yoga. I like it, but I can’t see how this would have been hit with the gray flannel men of the Eisenhower generation.

Later additions to the Seaforth! line include Sea Spice Lime (1966); Scotch Leather (1968); and Dominican Bay Rum (1968). Spearhead has already released the first. I hope they come out with versions of Scotch Leather and Bay Rum as well.

Seaforth! Fleur de France (Spearhead) powdery rosemary
Shave 18

In 1968 the owners of the Seaforth! brand offered a set of four small bottles of aftershave. One of these was Fleur de France. It’s a classic French barbershop fragrance, heavy on powder and rosemary, with plenty of geranium and musk in the mix too. Even though it’s flowery, it’s no pansy. The scent is strong … strong enough in fact to make my lips numb. And as Tedolph noted in his review, this fragrance lingers. Don’t think about wearing another cologne after a shave with Fleur. It would only get lost in the floral haze.

Later: I take it back. You can wear a fragrance with this soap. A big spritz of Eucris eau de parfum sits nice with Fleur de France. Eucris' berries and spice go well with Fleur's herbs and flowers, and the oakmoss in both fragrances serves as a nice bridge between them.
