Tried pushing the VDH soap for one last shave but the lather was too thin. In all fairness, there was only a small chip the size of my pinkie fingernail of soap left and a little film on the bottom of the shaving bowl. I received a few extra weeks of shaves from this puck of soap than I thought I would, so I am more than satisfied with how long the puck lasted.  I switched to the PAA soap (which is also almost done) to finish the shave. I plan to finish that soap as well to clear out some room in the shave den.

Post: Stirling witch hazel, PAA Mysterium Serum

I scraped the last of the PAA soap (gathered around the edges of the soap tub) and put in the HC&C shave bowl to make it easier to load. I did a similar thing with the Van Der Hagen Select Shave Soap when it ran low. This is an excellent use of this bowl. I was able to get a few extra weeks out of the VDH. I also had an easy load with the PAA soap as well.

First time trying the SHD knot. I had swapped the Maggard premium boar knot for the Maggard SHD knot in this handle. This knot made a nice lather in very little time. The knot felt like you were using a soft pillow to apply lather to your face. The extra water trapped in this knot handled the thirstiness of the PAA soap (something I always struggled with for PAA soaps). Even when I rinsed out the sides of the brush under the faucet, there was still a cache of lather in the center of the knot that I had to remove by rinsing directly into the knot. Excellent knot. I think this gives my synthetics like the Maggard G5 and the Muhle STF a run for their money. The brush is not floppy and has the right amount of backbone. Very worthwhile purchase.

The TryABlade.com PTFE-coated Stainless Steel worked for 9 shaves (my usual stopping point for GEM-style blades) but I decided not to push it any farther. I am not sure if it was the same as the GEM PTFE-coated Stainless Steel blade or not. I guess it doesn't matter since TryABlade.com is out of business. Still a decent blade and I would use them up.

It was a pleasant shave.
