Wolverine, after using this one quite a few times, I'm going to have to say that I prefer my Tuxedo brush. I actually think it's softer and less springy. I think if the loft on the Cashmere was a couple millimeters lower, it would be better. I really like the handle it came in though. It's a comfortable and ergonomic shape although a little on the light side for me. Hope this helps!

Jeff,

Thank you for the update.  I was thinking that the Cashmere may be to floppy for some but must say I was a little surprised to hear that the Cashmere is more springy.  Like you said might be something that would be better to purchase just the knot and then you could determine the loft you want.  I seem to be moving into wanting softer brushes but don't want a wet mop but also since I started using the Stirling Finest 24mm I do enjoy the splay of natural hair also.  They all have a place in my den. Thanks again for letting me know.

Wolverine, you're welcome. I think the springyness is a result of the slightly higher loft. It would be great if he offered an option to purchase the olive wood handle and knot separately so you could set it a little deeper in the handle.

Yeah I was thinking if I got just the knot maybe going with Whipped Dog 24mm Luna Handle. I thought maybe Matsilainen did this.  Do you happen to know what the loft was on your brush? No biggie I can send Andrew a PM.  Thanks again Jeff.

Wolverine, my 24 mm Tuxedo is set in the standard Whipped Dog handle at the standard drill depth, which gives it a loft of 54–55 mm. I hope that helps. I’ll add that I like to rate my shaving equipment (1–5 points) after each use, and the “Tuxedo Dog” has never been anything but the full five points. Just simply a marvelous brush in every way, I think.

Thank you Matthew,
Good to know that the standard 10mm depth would work on the 24mm knot.   Happy2

If the Luna handle has the same drill, then it should work. I should add that I like to be able to splay the brush at least somewhat. Even with essentially the full loft of the Tuxedo in use, I don’t feel like it’s floppy or springy, like so many synthetics are. If you absolutely wanted to avoid those two characteristics (but then possibly lose some capability to splay), you could maybe drill an extra 2–3 mm.
