I prefer not to ship water if I can avoid doing it.
I'm pretty sure there is more to it than that.

I'd be curious how a soft soap like B&M, MW, Stirling, RR etc, would hold up if you just added water and whipped it up.

Just like I used to. Actually, after I had been DE shaving for a while, one day i decided to give the 'ol Barbasol another shot just for shiggles. I could actually get a good shave with it! I just much prefer a brush and soap and to not spray chemical foam on my face.

But pertaining to the original question, I have to agree with olschoolsteel. They probably don't sell as well as soaps so they don't get made. Or maybe they're harder to make??

Hopefully one of the artisans will chime in with an answer.

I believe we all have used Barbasol at one point.  It was a joke anyway.  This place is getting weird by the second, not even a joke is admissibleConfused2

You misunderstand people quite a bit, don't you?

I knew you were joking about Barbasol. I was just relating a story, not seriously defending it. Sheesh...

Really? Welcome to my ignore list. I guess it must be my bad English. Very subtle, I have dealt with ignorant people like you in my life, so I'm not surprised, there is always, the one.

I think what he is referring to Bruce is if you look at cream ingredient lists, Aqua is usually #2 or #3 on the list. For the weight, he wants more soap and not water. I havent heard of the rot period. I always thought creams felt slightly greasy in my fingers but didnt know if I was mistaking the soap for the oils. I always thought a soaper would superfat and add copious amounts of water till it could flow through a squirt container. But I realize that is probly an over-generalization. I will have to search Chris's thread again about cream.

Like Hector says, I bet those universal squirt tubes add to the price of the soap, and that hurts when you are trying to keep prices down to entice purchases.

I will like to know the percentage of water used on tube shaving creams and how is in proportion to the other ingredients.

Makes sense @oldschoolsteel

I've used some great creams that perform as well as any soap. The reason I don't use them any longer is because I prefer to face lather. With creams, I always find them to be better for bowl lathering and I waste far too much when I face lather them.

If you ask me, creams are much easier to work with so make a great transition to quality lathers for new wet shavers. They also seem to hold up to the heat of scuttles and don't break down nearly as easily as soaps.

The only cream I personally use is the Proraso Red. Mostly because of its awesome scent and slickness. I use my extra floppy and soft FS badger on that. The rest of the creams I trudge upstairs and donate to the leg shavers den. Those animals will eat anything. They are too lazy for the mug and brush so I at least have them squirting a snurdle into their hands and smearing it on their legs, and any area needed shaving in place of conventional lather. The only one they didnt like so far was the Burts Bees cream. They said it was straight grease that would never break down into something soapy. I think they tried to turn it into bubble bath or something.

On edit, it was post number 3 in the CB thread where Chris mentions cream.

Guilty as charged!  I have all of them except Sensitiv.  They are very good.
