I very much like iColoniali- subtle menthol but it really works to complement the soap. The relatively new Italian Barber Italy 1955 is a great menthol soap as well [I understand TFS partners on many of their soaps and it very well may be the same or similar to Sottozero but I don't have the TFS; pairs great with Proraso AS!]

The TFS Sottozero is not a face-freezing soap but it's still well-mentholated and has a Proraso Green level of cooling. I love it.

I used TFS Sottozero (Spring 2016 version) this morning: the menthol level seemed pretty low (a tad lower than Proraso Green), but the eucaliptus oil and the camphor provided a good level of cooling, together with a balsamic note in the scent.

I don't care for face freezers. Here's a list of my menthol soaps:

Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic (this has the perfect amount of menthol for me)
Chiseled Face Orange Creamsicle
Barrister and Mann Adagio (my current favorite soap & scent)
Maggards Northern Moss (very mild menthol but it is there)
Dr. Jons Arctic Hydra (haven't used it yet)

I also have Mickey Lee Paradise Frost. It's a nice grapefruit scent, but calling this soap a mentholated soap is a travesty. I can't feel it at all.

Cool (pun intended) to see an old thread revived. I’d like to add my $0.02, as I have little experience with mentholated soaps. I really enjoy Mystic Water Soap Lemongrass & Blue Gum (menthol). To me, the menthol level in that soap isn’t the “freeze your face” variety, but rather it adds to the feeling of smoothness that the soap itself already provides. Very pleasant.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Barrister & Mann Arctique
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Cryogen

Compared to these, nothing else should even call themselves mentholated. Tongue

I tried the Cryogen once. No thank you, I still like to be able to see while I'm shaving. I think Adagio has the perfect level of menthol. Nice and cool without burning your eyes.

I agree with this. Adagio is just a wonderful soap all around!

My favorite mentholated soap is Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic. In my humble opinion, it is the perfect amount of menthol, coming on slowly and subtley, but growing in intensity throughout the shave to a very nice, cold feel by pass #3.

I also like Stirling's Frozen Tundra, though this is a MUCH more intense menthol, it still does not cause anything like "face freeze", or, in my case...scalp freeze...
