For the first time, I used a vintage Merkur/Hoffritz Progress (the original cap is marked "Hoffritz" and the base plate is marked "W. Germany") that I got off of eBay. I learned that proper blade position/alignment had to be carefully achieved in tightening the razor - something I'm not too crazy about.  The shave itself, with a Feather blade, was great.

I wish I knew more about this particular Merkur Progress variation.
