This next pairing will be a Gillette New Improved with the Bar handle against a Merkur 1904.
First up is the New Improved. I am using the same two Feather blades used in the first pairing and the blade that bit me on day one is now in this Gillette.
The soap for today is Tabac:
Brush is a nice old pure badger from Plymouth:
Razor Gillette New Improved with Bar handle:
Aftershave Tabac:
From the first stroke it was clear that it will be hard to find a better razor experience than this one. There was no doubt that yesterday's bites were not the blade but either the razor or technique. I do have some other Gillette Old types and so after I work through everything I may try another Old just to see if it is something related to that particular beast.
The result was a two pass with almost no touchup better than PDG shave, maybe as close to a perfect shave as I have had in awhile. The Merkur will really be challenged to equal this one. This was one of those shaves where you reach a point of disappointment because you really can't find another patch to shave.
