'46 British-made Aristocrat.

When I found it at a flea market (in a box of 6) it was in a sorry state, with plate loss, scratches, gouges, and pitting. The end caps were missing.
How could this even happen? It was so rough that it was unusable.

With nothing to lose I took some fine wet/dry sandpaper to it going down to the bare brass, some polishing compound on a muslin wheel, and a bit of Brasso.
Ta-dah!

Now it is one of my favourite razors, mild but still efficient.
