To those of you that have this razor.......I'm torn between the Plate to order. It's between the Closed "C" and "D" Plates.

I understand the stats on both, but wondering if you're a user, which you prefer and why.

I don't like mild razors or for that matter too "aggressive". I'd love to hear your thoughts and thank you in advance!

Scentsless Shaver

Hello!

I used the Christopher Bradley almost exclusively for about 2 years. I did buy and sell a lot of plates as I zeroed in on what worked best for me. I am a daily shaver, and I don't like a lot of blade feel, so no aggressive razors. I liked the B and C solid bar plates and used the B much more as I loved the mild yet efficient feel. I think you would do well with your choices of C & D plates, as I would bet you'd find B too mild. If you can't decide, get both! I looked on the Karve Shaving site and to buy an additional plate is $40 CAD. Buying the daily shaver kit (3 plates: B, C, D) only saves $10, so not worth it for you.

Another option is buy the C plate (probably won't be too aggressive for you) and post a want to buy in the BST for a D plate. You may pick one up quickly. But buying it as a single from Karve can hit you with shipping.

Best of luck to you as you decide, and you will enjoy the shaves! That razor is a great one!

I liked it so much that I bought an Overlander as soon as Chris announced them. It became my #1 and still is today.

Here is the CB chart. I use a closed comb G which is almost the max (OC being max). Concentrate on exposure because that shows how much of the blade is touching skin.

I like mid aggressive razors, partly because I don't shave every day, mostly every 3-4 days, so when I do shave I have some stubble to remove. I prefer the D plate as it's more efficient while still being smooth. For every day use, I would probably end up using the C. My beard is not coarse and I do have sensitive skin. I avoid mild razors like the plague.

I have three two Karve razors and three different plates: C, D and E all solid bar.

The E plate is great for reducing multiple days of growth. I often use it for my WTG pass. I would not want to use it ATG with my sensitive skin.
The D plate is less aggressive than the E and is ideal for WTG passes if you shave every day. I can use it ATG, but prefer a milder razor.
The C plate is a good all around plate, especially if you do not have a heavy beard and shave everyday. I can easily use the C plate ATG as long as the angle is correct and my pressure is light. You can always make the C plate more efficient by using a sharper blade.

I do not own a B plate as I believe it would be too inefficient for my heavy beard, although my sensitive skin would love it.
If you plan to purchase a brass razor, additional plates are not too expensive. You might want to pick up both C and D plates if those are what you think might work for you.

The SB-D plate is my preference. I enjoy mid-aggressive razors and it fits the bill nicely. I've never used the C plate, but I bet it would be a good choice too for daily shaving.

I have many plates from them. My main one is the SB-E. I started with the SB-C and found ti too mild for my taste. Personally, I don't find any too aggressive for me, but I do like a more "lively" razor. The SB-C had almost no blade feel to me and I don't care for that. It's popular and I do understand why. It's just not my wheelhouse. The SB-E for me is a perfect storm of efficiency and still maintaining comfort. I have an extra OC-F, OC-G, and also a SB-G I would let you try, but those may be more than what you want as they are pretty much on the far end of the efficiency spectrum.

Awesome, I hope you find it perfect! I took a shot and decided to skip the D and go to the E and it worked for me. I see some folks who do find the C mild like the D so I think you will be ok. Look forward to your experience.

Late to the party, but my preference is D for a smooth, gentle face shave with a bump up in efficiency. Great choice! On the dome I prefer G.
